Yes, we can. I sifted through 2,100+ posts. Yes it took me about two days, no I didn't read ALL 2,100+, but I did read! Skip around a little.....and as was stated earlier, the same thing is being said over and over again because A) PEOPLE WHO REFUSE TO READ CONTINUE TO ASK THE SAME QUESTIONS OVER AND OVER and B) it, if nothing else, should reiterate some points!

UPDATE:

Went to the ASC to pick up my refurb TP. It has the same texting bug, of course. The lady I worked with originally wasn't there. The guy tech was nice, but I showed him my problem persisted, and he said basically I had no options. I had to live with the bug, or pay to buy a new phone. He suggested I wait a year and upgrade to something else.

I told him I wasn't happy with that, that I needed a phone that worked for texting, which is why I bought this one. He told me I should just "google around" for a solution, that something was probably out there "on a forum or something", that there might be a "registry hack". How unprofessional. I shouldn't have to spend my time fixing Sprint's problem. Even though I actually CAN do that, it shouldn't be something expected of customers. Most customers don't have that level of expertise. I said nothing to him that indicated I had that level of expertise. I was actually playing dumb.

And this is the exact same thing I did today. I already knew to act like I didn't know much....meaning to NOT go trampling in a store talking about a list that we shouldn't have known about anyway. AS PER READING QUITE A FEW POSTS (cough...unlike....cough.....those.....cough.....w ho don't..COUGH), I tried a different store. My 3rd keyboard went out on TP #4. It was checked in and the wait time was TWO HOURS. I remained patient and about 30-40 mins into waiting, I KINDLY asked the host if I could be swapped to a different unit. He asked for my name and walked over to the techs and all I heard him say was "Check on (my name) please". About 10 minutes after that, a rep walked over to me with my TP in hand and said "Here's your phone. We did replace the keyboard, but that's only to get you through til Thursday when your other phone gets in. We are swapping it out". He explained why, gave me the options (which included the TP2) and there was definitely no contest. I had honestly only played with the TP2 just once (last week when a different store put a "new" KB on my phone). We talked for a few more mins and I was on my way out the door.
READ THE DANG POSTS!! It's really not that hard and those who don't and continue to ask repeat questions should be IGNORED! Lucky for them, they will get some people who will tell them nicely to read back into the forums.

And just an FYI, if the 'search' is actually utilized, it WILL bring up a thread or post with the information you need.

P.S.
My TP2 will be in Thurs!! I'm so ecstatic! (Some) Patience (AND READING) have prevailed! Lol. Good luck to those of you trying to get a TP replaced for LEGITIMATE reasons.

Ive been almost a week without my TP and it feels weird. Yea I moved on to the TP2 but I believe the TP forum had the most traffic comin in to PPCGEEKS. This Forum is what gave alot of CHEFS recognition and popularity. But now you come to this side and there is hardly anybody here. Then you go to the TP2 forum and all you see is people askin the same questions. I dont even know where to hang out on this site anymore, if that makes any sense. I havnet even flashed my TP2. We'll see what happens. And to all you "SPRINTERS" good luck!

I thought it was just me!! And I don't even have my TP2 yet! LOL! I'll definitely still be "lurking" around the TP forum; seems to have more interesting topics for some reason too. That part may be just me.
So no worries KillAByteZ, it makes perfect sense....to me. :)

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with PALM PRE

I went into the store to get my touch pro looked fixed because the screen wouldn't come on any more (due to my negligence but that's another story...).

The repairman gave me a choice of many phones to replace my tp with, ie. TP, TP2, BBerry Curve, others, and last but not least, the Palm Pre.I ended up choosing the Pre and I actually love it. I've had it for almost a month now.

My prev phones since 1999 include
some no-name phone that looked like wood-grain on it,
Sanyo 4500,
Sanyo 4900,
3 different candybar style Nokias,
1 flip samsung,

1 flip nokia,
Sanyo M1,
Palm Treo 700p,
Palm Centro,
HTC Touch Vogue,
HTC Touch Diamond,
HTC Touch Vogue (another one),
Palm Treo 800w,
HTC Touch Pro,
and NOW a Palm Pre.

The Pre is the best phone so far, just because it's technology. There are few things I miss from my Windows Mobile phones, though, ie. certain apps and having choices in browsers like Skyfire, or Opera... and I really miss flashing my phone and trying the rom's put out by my ppc geeks!!

I have more to say... but I'm at work... gotta go. I just really missed my ppcgeeks.com forums, because I've been on precentral.net for the past month.

After nearly three weeks of polite banter with Executive CS and an open and shut case, the result, "tough luck kid, go fish!"

back to the trenches, hey perhaps for comic relief I should post a video of my TP randomly vibrating untill I soft reset it! Too bad I have no way to document yesterdays FOUR random resets that result in a restart to airplane mode.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!

Not that I have much to add to this..
I was referred to this forum by a colleague. My TP was starting to act up and I lived with the issues until they got to the point of unreliability. Meanwhile, I spent DAYS reading the entire thread. So, with the knowledge I gleaned from this thread I went to one store. My original TP was replaced with refurb unit. Ok, I wasn't one of the lucky ones.. But that unit started to act up within a week and I was given the store managers email. After contacting him, I was ordered a nib TP2 that I have now had almost a week and love it.
In my case, courtesy worked as well as a sympathetic store manager.
Now, am I smarter for reading the whole thread or have I lost some IQ points..
Time will tell.. But I do have a shiney new phone...
