I think I messed up.. (HTC Touch Pro)

I tried to update my touch pro yesterday with the rom I got from HTC's site. I tried to flash it from the SD. It got as far as the OS portion of the update and stopped with an update failure. The phone is not unlocked. I've tried to let it go through with the update many times with no success. It won't do anything else, at this point. Is there any way I can fix it? Is it possible to try flashing the original ROM back to it without unlocking it? I can't unlock it in this state, correct? Thanks!!

if you can still get to bootloader you should be fine. pull the battery, hold down voluem down and power button at the same time. when you see the tricolor screen try using the RUU (pc program with USB cable)

That doesn't seem to work. The phone says USB when I connect it, but my computer doesn't recognize it. When I turn the phone on, it goes straight to the three color screen and says bad rom. try reinstalling or something. When I hold the vol- and power button, it goes back to the install screen. I forgot to mention I did this with the SD card instead of active sync.

as long as it says usb on the tri color screen you will be able to run the shipped rom execuatable and it SHOULD work via activesync over USB

yesterday I flashed the shipped VZW rom onto a sprint phone in order to help a vzw user. it worked but last night when I tried to flash my rom back it wouldn't work. I had to run the unlocker via RUU and it worked. it was as if the vzw shipped rom relocked the phone, but it still said cmonex. today I have had trouble flashing it from RUU when the rom was running, had to go into bootloader. today again I messed it up and it wouldnt flash via SD or RUU (USB). so I said ok well I will flash the sprint stock rom (the new one) and that will fix it. That didn;t work either via RUU or SD, and now I was left with a rom upgrade error. I had to unlock AGAIN via SD (from my sd unlocking card I keep handy) and then and only then was I able to flash the new sprint shipped rom.

the vzw one also changed my radio, as does the new sprint rom.

hope it helps as sometimes you have to jump through hoops to resuscitate these things. and if this didnt brick it, nothing will...

run the exe file from the pc and be sure that you DON'T have an nbh file on the root of your card, better yet, just remove your card prior to running the exe file.

Ya when it says USB that means it is connected. If it says SERIAL then your phone is not connected to your comp. You will have to run either the SHIPPED ROM or the NEW ROM from HTC. Do not use the dumped version. Also, you will need to run the whole RUU and not just the nbh file.

edit* My computer detects the phone. it's listed as microsoft usb sync, but it gives me a connection error when I try to run the RUU.

I've tried to run the RUU, but it won't connect to the phone. Activesync doesn't recognize it (although windows makes that ding ding sound when I plug it in). How can I make an unlock card? Did this happen because my phone is locked and I flashed from the SD? I only moved/renamed the one file to the sd card.

you didnt download the GSM rom did you? just find another rom here in the rom section and run it from your SD card and report back with what happens.

I used the sprint rom from HTC's site. I'll try to reflash the stock rom when I get home from work, tonight. I've had to go back to my old treo 700 until I get this figured out. What a bummer!!

I found a stock rom on the net somewhere, flashed it, and the phone is fine. Thanks for the tips!!
