edit* My computer detects the phone. it's listed as microsoft usb sync, but it gives me a connection error when I try to run the RUU.

I've tried to run the RUU, but it won't connect to the phone. Activesync doesn't recognize it (although windows makes that ding ding sound when I plug it in). How can I make an unlock card? Did this happen because my phone is locked and I flashed from the SD? I only moved/renamed the one file to the sd card.
