Camera Auto Focus

Guys im a relative newcomer to the touch pro only been a month or so but so far ive come to the conclusion that the phone is unusable because of the astronomical autofocus delay by the time it takes the pic the person or object has moved.

My question ( after vigorous searching ) is
1) Has anyone found a way to disable the autofocus( my old 8125 or my mogul didnt have an autofocus feature and it worked fine most of the time had good pictures)

2) If there is no way to disable the autofocus in the current camera app is it possible to use the camera app from a previous version of windows mobile ( like the one from the vouge or the one they were using on the mogul)? i mean since those didnt have the autofocus feature (since the phone didnt have it) im guessing the app didnt have the ability to autofocus hence might skip over tht step if used in the Touch pro.

any help or ideas would be welcome and if im just talkin pie in the sky kinda ideas well someones gotta ask the stupid questions.

i dont think there is a way to turn it off, i could be wront but i dont think so

Hmm i just tried a cab for a camera package for the kaiser and the picture was fast ie it didnt go thru all that auto focusing bull$hit BUT since it was for qvga the screen was miniaturized into a small corner so i couldnt see what i was actually doing

try to install that cab and soft reset. from what i've heard, it makes a heck of a difference with the camera auto focus

I found that turning down the brightness all the way (camera brightness) significantly speeds up the auto focus.

There isnt a huge difference in brightness either

I tired turning down the brightness and didnt notice a significant speed up but wil try it some more today and see what happens.

@strra that link u posted is for the d3d drivers right well thing is that im using the psyki rom and it has some updated D3D drivers built in.

Crap i just uninstalled that camera cab i had tried and now it seems i have no camera at all i guess a hardreset is in order for me oh well

*shrug* i don't know what this would have that yours doesn't and vice versa but if you're just hard resetting, it can't hurt to try

Try going to camera settings,Advanced, Shoot Options and change to "Full Press".
It does not disable the auto-focus, but it considerably speeds up the shooting process.

Also the lower the light level of the picture you are taking, the longer it takes to auto-focus.
