Exclamation Keyboard on TP seems to be dead!

so does anyone know of a guide, a walktrough or something that i can do to CHECK the keyboard on my TP?

i have the screwdrivers and everything, i fix laptops, and i've opened up phones before, but i would like a guide that specifically tells me what things to look for when i open my TP to see if the keyboard is working...

because the phone is in LIKE new condition, never been dropped or nothing, it's mint. so i dn't understand why the ****ty keyboard doesn't work anymore!

and i've tried flashing it to many different roms and the same ****.
also i have 2 other TP's, and those work fine on any ROM...

Re: Keyboard on TP seems to be dead!

Its not the roms or apps. This is a known issue with the TPs. You have return it to get fixed or replaced. I've had 2 of mine replaced in 7 months. I know others who have replaced theirs twice in the same period of time. I would suggest you flash the stock rom and re-lock the phone before you take it in. Good Luck!

Sorry I just realized you have cricket, which means you probably can't return the phone or have it replaced. I have replaced the keyboard on this phone before. It was pretty easy. The hard part is finding a replacement keyboard for the CDMA version.

Re: Keyboard on TP seems to be dead!

Same problem here, found lots of info on this site. what worked for me was I removed the battery and pushed down on the space bar using my thumb on the space bar and finger under the space bar where the battery was. I guess thats where the ribbon disconnects on these.
Did this a couple of weeks ago and still works. hope this helps.

Re: Keyboard on TP seems to be dead!

This is all you need... I fixed mine, and if I can do it, you can do it. I'm no hardware guy. Just take it slow.

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=62876

They break easy because of poor design around the ribbon cable connection...once it's apart you'll see. Behind the battery is a thin piece of metal that isn't reinforced/attached...so if you press the battery in with even more than slight pressure (or even if the phone receives a MINOR bump), those ribbon connections can come off easy.

Suggest you have some electric tape/duct tape on hand to reinforce the connections once it's open.
