I have been having an issue with my new HTC Touch Pro not giving me audible notification or email icon in the task bar when an email arrives. I spoke to Telus about this and have confirmed that I am not the only person affected by this. After escalating the issue, it was determined that an update is needed to the Telus Mobile Email software. I am presuming this, because I was told today that an update would be released for that software package that will fix my problem within the next two weeks.
So I thought I would post this up in case anyone else is afflicted as I am. Keep checking for updates via the telus mobile email app on your phone (click Menu -> Upgrade). The Telus Mobile Email app is the green envelope on the Programs screen. When the new version is posted I assume that it will prompt you to download it.

http://businessinbox.telusmobility.com Once the updated program is posted there will be a link for it right below the login section.
I personally can't wait for this to get fixed. I use my phone more for email than I do for calling anyone so notifications are REALLY important to me.
