Smile Touch Pro - Telus - Email Notification Issue - Software Update Pending

I have been having an issue with my new HTC Touch Pro not giving me audible notification or email icon in the task bar when an email arrives. I spoke to Telus about this and have confirmed that I am not the only person affected by this. After escalating the issue, it was determined that an update is needed to the Telus Mobile Email software. I am presuming this, because I was told today that an update would be released for that software package that will fix my problem within the next two weeks.

So I thought I would post this up in case anyone else is afflicted as I am. Keep checking for updates via the telus mobile email app on your phone (click Menu -> Upgrade). The Telus Mobile Email app is the green envelope on the Programs screen. When the new version is posted I assume that it will prompt you to download it.

Also, the rep told me that you can visit http://businessinbox.telusmobility.com Once the updated program is posted there will be a link for it right below the login section.

I personally can't wait for this to get fixed. I use my phone more for email than I do for calling anyone so notifications are REALLY important to me.

Hey-o,
Don't know if this will help you or not, but I was having this same problem on a bell touch pro, and the cab from the thread below fixed me up. The text of the thread implies that it's a problem specific to phones with Bell's custom UI, but I've got 4 of these in my contract, and not all were having the issue. At any rate, install at your own risk: although I can't vouch for the file's validity, I do know it fixed my problem.
