Re: Sprite Backup and ROM upgrade question
I use Sprite Backup, it will accomplish what you want, it is good for going back to a ROM. Saves a lot of time! If you are going to test drive a couple of different ROMS, I would suggest Sashimi.

Re: Sprite Backup and ROM upgrade question
Yes, I have done this and it has been my personal experience that trying this brings some weird behavior on the phone: some applications work fully while others would just crash even on basic use.

Re: Sprite Backup and ROM upgrade question
sprite backup is excellent for making a complete backup to restore. I run it once a week to backup my entire phone (rom and all), so that if i end up with corrupt settings from tinkering with it (i play around alot, thanks PPCGEEKS!), I can just restore the most recent backup and be done. As for moving to a different rom, the best solution for a clean install is to backup contacts and calender and such through activesync to outlook, and the install the rom fresh. Also, just for easy access, i created and INSTALL folder on my SD card, which i put all the cabs i want installed each time i flash a rom (programs, tweaks, etc) that way all i have to do is flash the rom, open file explorer, access the sd card, go down the list and install all the cabs at once (i have never had a problem doing this, though some people say you should soft reset everytime you install something), and then soft reset once and start customizing (set background, enter owner information, etc). Using this method, i can migrate from one from to another, without losing anything, and with the same application setup, in less than an hour. Still time consuming, but its clean and effective.

Re: Sprite Backup and ROM upgrade question
I use MS MyPhone to back up texts, contacts, appts, and tasks. It will also backup video and pictures. For other customizations it is hard to carry those across ROMs but there are a number of threads and/or apps that can be used to create cabs that will quick install your favorite settings.
