Broken Sprint TP, flashed ROM, Asurion...

Please don't flame me too hard as I'm sure this has been covered but I can't find a clear answer. I broke my Touch Pro (dropped it on it's face, it rings b ut I'm getting nothing on the screen, plus it's already beat to hell...) and have filed an insurance claim. My question is; Is it going to be an issue if the ROM has been flashed? I don't think I can reflash it as I can't really do anything with it. Also, does anyone think they would give me a hard time if I didn't return the battery with the phone?

Thanks a lot and sorry if this topic has been beat to death.

Re: Broken Sprint TP, flashed ROM, Asurion...

Might wanna check the sticky in the TP forum about TEP and Asurion claims. Not sure about the flashing thing, but I know when I swap with Sprint, they don't provide a new battery, so you have to keep it. I've never gone through Asurion, so can't be positive. Good luck

If the phone still works but the screen doesnt you can still flash. Flashing by pc doesnt require the use of the screen, you can also relock the phone this way. Replacement phones dont come with a battery so you should keep yours.

+1 to still flashing. I had a broken screen but it was just my touch screen stopped working. flashed it locked it returned it not problem what so ever.

Question though. Why are you going through Asurion? If you have TEP you shouldnt have to do all that Just take it into a sprint store they check if its water damaged and assuming its not replace it free.

Because it was dropped (repeatedly). When I called Sprint, I was told to go through insurance.

I think you should still go to the store maybe they will change it for you. if they dont then you do the insurance but you should try the store first... worth a try...

Re: Broken Sprint TP, flashed ROM, Asurion...

If the screen still powers up, Advanced Exchange will be able to assist you. It's when your screen is not functional at all (no backlight) that you have to go through the Asurion Insurance. Newer TEP guidelines don't allow servicing stores to cover the screen.
At least that is for Red Carpet/Third party dealers, not sure about Sprint Corporate direct
stores.

P.S.
Buddies of mine that have gone either route, have received their phones already security unlocked. Flashing back to stock is the safest way to go. Having to relock it may not be the case. But, most will agree, better safe than sorry.
