If the screen still powers up, Advanced Exchange will be able to assist you. It's when your screen is not functional at all (no backlight) that you have to go through the Asurion Insurance. Newer TEP guidelines don't allow servicing stores to cover the screen.
At least that is for Red Carpet/Third party dealers, not sure about Sprint Corporate direct
stores.

P.S.
Buddies of mine that have gone either route, have received their phones already security unlocked. Flashing back to stock is the safest way to go. Having to relock it may not be the case. But, most will agree, better safe than sorry.
