Media player shows songs in its own library separated into categories represented as folders, but it doesn't change the directory structure of the SD card. In other words, it doesn't create folders and put songs in them. It only appears that way from within Media Player.

i had a similar issue with a sandisk card turned out to be a thumbs file that got copied over from my ibook

The last time this happened to me it was cause if a program that the person whom I share my phone with downloaded a program, well just the cab (didnt install it) and that cab screwed everything up, but all the othertimes, which is a lot, every card I have is completely full with very large files, all I did was my suggestion above and it worked, but on a class 2 card I had, I removed songs and videos, little by little, untill everything acted as it should, and it stopped locking up on me constantly and inconsitently, usually when I was on the train coming home from work and really wanted to relax to music, it sucked
