Yes, I think that's correct. The only workaround right now would be to use a software hack to change your MEID to that of another verizon phone you're in possession of (preferably one that you had already activated in their system). I'm not sure if that's illegal though, so you might want to look into that.

That is definitely illegal and if you're caught it is really bad news. It's not supposed to be discussed here.

it's not something I do. Just something I came across in my search for a solution. I thought maybe if someone wanted to change the MEID to a phone they themselves own, it might be okay, but it sounds like that's not the case.

That is actually a federal felony (but people do it all the time)

My old verizon touch pro actually broke to pieces when it feel off from our 2nd floor balcony, no other phone ever came close to it in features, so I ended up getting another one and I still have the old one. would love to change it to use the meid on a sprint phone, anybody help. I'm sure this wouldn't be considered stealing since I'm already in possesion of the broken one.

Since you are still in posession of the broken one I am guessing that you reported it lost or stolen. If that is the case then it would be a really bad idea to try and use that number.

Not only that but it's still a felony even if you own the phone.

It's absolutely ridiculous that this is the policy. I hope verizon (and the other major phone networks) get their asses handed to them by the antitrust investigations. Unfortunately, it's the congress who enacted these ill-conceived regulations doing the investigating.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro on Verizon stopped working - help

I am recommending that we file a compliant with FCC against Verizon not honoring their customer agreement to allow other CDMA phones on their network. Link below. I already filed one and it two about two minutes.. Let's make them pay.
