-92dbm isn't great but it can also get quite a bit worse. In my apartment I get between -80 and -90, before switching to the Telus radio though it was -95 to -100, which is tragic.
On another note, I've used a ton of the ROMs around here and never observed a real change to my signal strength. Unless some wonky power management was cooked into the ROM, I can't see it being the cause.

when you say your phone struggles to use ev what kinda service do you have? because mine struggles sometimes but i have no bars at home. anywhere else its fine i think. ill actually lookout for this next time i am on the net on my phone.
