Re: Homemade Car Dock MOD *with pictures*

A little update. I am going to attempt to remake this dock. I think I can do better.

Congrats on your effort to make it "Burger King" approved ,not a bad first try at all JB weld is great. Automotive body filler is great ,easy to sand and engineered to be painted over. Make a nice cardboard form around your dock in the shape you want (cover inside with foil/plastic wrap) tape it up to your stand & pack the filler into your form and let it dry. Remove your form and sand with 320 and then 800 grit sand paper. When you approve of the smoothness wipe it down with alcohol swab and let dry before painting.Wal-Mart has some really nice House of color paint in the motorcycle helmet section. Just remember time spent on waiting for light coats of paint to dry is better than runs like an ice cream cone, so dont try to acheive total color on first spray ,it might take 2 or three passes .Same process with the clearcoat light and even.

Hey bro, I gotta give you a +1 on the awesome effort and terrific ingenuity...I see a lot of people making fun of it, but ya know what...I dont see them trying to be creative!!!! I think this is an idea that a lot of people will use and make their own creative docks....I give you kudos bro, very awesome!!!

My dad is a custom painter, so I have to give you props on explaining the process in an easy way. I would have gotten waaay to into detail and technical.
I kind of hate being a custom painer's son, I look at every car and see what color would look better, see all the things wrong in the paintjob, etc etc.
It's kind of annoying because of that.
Especially when I see hack jobs when people customize their vehicles, that makes me want to go up to it and kick it. haha.
That's part of the reason a business I'm going to start is lifting trucks, pre-running trucks, customizing cars. Basically if there's any aftermarket part, or any modification to any vehicle(planes, boats, motorcycles, etc etc) we will do it.
I've got a business plan and everything written out, and have a bunch of mods to do to a company vehicle that will put us on the map instantly.
I spent two years of my highschool career planning this all out and how to "jump start" the business.

But thanks again for your short and to the point walkthrough.

I agree. It's a nice homemade dock.
When I personally mod things I get wayyyy too "perfectionist-y"
but nevertheless, it's a pretty cool mod and has given me some great ideas
on top of the other ones I have.

Cool Re: Homemade Car Dock MOD *with pictures*

Cody, good luck ...just remember that the customer is not always right ,but they think they are so paperwork and written acceptance of work to be performed is crucial. Time is your enemy but work quality never takes a back seat to time so give a reasonable time estimate ,nobody ever complains about getting their car back early.

So that makes your lack of sensitivity better? How??????? Note to Tony, my man thats not typically a word anybody should be using, especially a non african american.
its people like you that keep the racists crap going. use a dictionary every once and a while and learn the real meaning of words. i love how its ok for one group to do one thing but the get offended when someone of another group uses the same thing. grow up and be an adult and GET OVER IT.
