Re: [5/14] Speed test Silence9 vs SilenceX vs Mighty5 vs SSK2.0 vs STOCK vs Others!

Any suggestions why stock opera blows everything else away? I tested it several times, with stock/ssk going back and forth. Anybody else observed similar result? PRLs, opera version???

I have resorted to disabling TF3D and just working with the default desktop for WM6. It's the fastest and most functional option for my situation.

How many of you guys are just using the default WM6 home screen? Have some rom suggestions?

Edit: I'm currently using Sceptre Rom which uses the Point UI front end (it was a little better than TF3D). I have disabled the Point UI and i'm just using WM6 default home screen now.
Well i would definitely have to disagree.

The way it auto-grabs all your facebook photos and cross-references it with my phonebook saved me adding photos for at least 40 people. Also the calendar app is MUCH better than the stock app since it always shows the "month" view.

Yes it has a few bugs but the latest one i tried was silence ROM with a few OEM's snatched from SSK (MMS) and Calkulin and now i have a fully functional TF3d ROM where EVERYTHING i can think of works.

Scrolling on stock Opera seems more fluid as well...

Thx
Thanks!

Thats a very popular quesiton for me these days. I dont have the files anymore nor the phone. Sorry. I did however transfer rights to the ROM to a fellow on XDA who is still supporting the product. I cant remember the chaps name but its a large thread over there.

I think they are, at least partially.
Update - see this - http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=57282

This would be somewhat duplicate to video test. Video playback speed depends both on filesystem speed and video driver. Lags in video driver slow down UI as well.

I did not want to separate browser version and connection performance on purpose - this way it reflects real world speed better.

Whatever is in boot sequence.

I agree and here is something that you can use to counter.

Boot time reflects file sys performance for the most part. If The roms are configured closely anyways.

Because its decent.

I did some web tests myself and found that if you CAB it in it SEEMS faster than cooked in. I cannot confirm that as fact but I prefer to CAB opera in. That seems to give a slight if nearly unnoticeable edge. Im sure there are many that will argue this but I cannto prove it... so....

EDIT: After looking at the results in the OP more closely your own findings prove what I am saying.

Silence, did you change video drivers with the new 6.1v2 ROM?

Scott - yes I have, it was good, but not as good as 20954. Not as fast. Plus I still prefer the OEM selections in your 1.5 kitchen the most.

Here is the big thing that 20954 does that very few other builds do. Except, it's not really a "big" thing, but I notice it and it contributes to the overall sense of speed of the build. Most builds, when you open a folder in File Explorer that has a lot of files in it, the files dont appear all at once. Rather, the 'fill in' from top to bottom. It happens quickly, but it's still not instant or all at once.

With 20954, you open a folder and the files all appear simultaneously. Yes, eve \Windows\. There is no 'fill in' effect.

SSK 2.0 was good but it did not instantly populate the files like this, and overall I saw no improvement or benefit compared to 1.5 build of 20954, so I flashed back to that and restored from a backup.

I have tried so many builds and so many different roms from so many chefs but this one just wins. I will probably only switch up for a really good 6.5 rom. |||bored|||'s 21222 (kitchen) was the fastest 6.5 I've tried so far (also tried 21202, 21500, 21501) and I ran that for a bit, but overall it still wasnt any better than 20954. For a verizon phone this is the best rom! 75 MB free RAM on boot and retardedly stable! I almost feel like going door to door like a jehovas witness to share the word of this rom....

Gotcha! Just so you know I opened up my SYS file library for use with the 2.0 Kitchen. The 20954 files are included. I have a total of 14 SYS files that will work with the 2.0 Rig.

PM me what you liked about 1.5 selections. Im always open for suggestions to newer revisions. And I also agree about what you are saying with 20954 and the refresh of the file folders. Also 20954 has the most free RAM ;c)

You know what would be cool is if someone took my kitchen and flashed and benchmarked every build.
