I would say unless you have to have a new one and refuse to have a refurb then call technical support and they will prob send you a refurb. Although lots of people here have said they are still getting new ones in box. I don't really want to drive to a store either, but I dont feel safe getting a refurb and mine is only two weeks old, so they better give me a brand spankin new one. But like I said I think they will give you a refurb free of charge, I know I had 3 blackberry refurbs almost a year after I bought it and all three were sent within 3 months.
Oh and when in doubt call the retention department, they will usually work with you pretty well. And if you need a managers direct number in retentions, PM me I got the guys number who has helped me out a couple times. Good Luck
