Well mine lasted a week..

Like it says my TP lasted a week, well week and a half to be fair before my keyboard went out. Tried hard reset, didn't work so my question is this...

My options are either get a refurb through mail or go into the store. I'd rather be lazy and get the refurb, but getting a brand new build date would be nice even though mine is just a 3-21 build date.

So if I take it in store is there a chance they will just replace the bottom portion or will they just hand be over a new phone in box? Anyone know what I should expect? I already screwed up on my backup, so I lost everything anyway.

Oh by the way this was a free phone sent as a replacement for faulty blackberry, and I only got it two weeks ago this coming monday. I dont know if that will hinder my replacement eligibility.

first one, lasted less then 30 days(Screeen problem)
second lasted 5 or so months, keyboard failure
third one, lasted a week about to get a replacement..keyboard failure again( build date 3-03-09)

if my next one lasts 5 months again I'll be happy and fine with a that

The techs will usually never fix the phone, they will take it apart and see whats wrong, but I have never had them fix it.

If they have the phone in stock, they will give you one. If they don't, they will order you one. In the latter case, you will not get accessories (most of the time) and will probably be a refurb. If they give you one in the store, it will probably be new.

Well hopefully they will just hand me a new one. I had just read on here that they replaced one part of someones phone with ether a screen or keyboard problem.

What is the deal with Sprint replacements anyway? I didn't put the monthly insurance coverage on my plan. Am I covered for the full 2 year contract or only for the 1 year of the HTC warranty? And what kind of service do I get without the Sprint insurance? Do I call them or walk into a Sprint store (or call HTC)?

what the heck are you guys doing to your phones.. I keep dropping mine and it's still going strong. Just take it in to sprint so 1> you dont' pay the $100 fee for a lost phone
2> you don't use up 1 of your available claims per year.

you didn't flash a diamond rom on it did you? lol

If you read this forum you probably know there is a very common issue with the keyboard becoming unresponsive. One user dissembled his and found the connector that can easily come apart. His fix was a piece of electrical tape, which HTC is apparently out of as the problem still exists after all these months. JASHTCDF (just another stupid HTC design flaw) which for this model include the "oily" screen spots, unusually hot phone, creaky back cover AND keyboad failure!

My phone is fine. But a friend of mine got a TP about 2 weeks before I did and his screen is going wonky. He did buy the monthly insurance but I did not. I don't think I should have to. I got my phone in late March. When can I make a claim and at what cost to me? Maybe I'll just call *2 and find out the answers, rather than finding out in a panic after the thing stops working.

Yeah this is ridiculous. Some people just got lucky some didnt. This is a great phone, when its working. Its like having another kid or something, always worried about it always trying to teach it new things. Its funny. Ive never seen another phone with this many issues across the board, but funny thing is I guess I like it cause I'm just gonna get another one. From everyone elses posts saying "I've had three, I've had five, I've had 7" I guess HTC is on to something, build a decent phone that is "capable" of great things but prone to some failures and you will always have new orders. Id like to see their numbers, atleast from feedback on this site, I'd say they have almost as many units out as replacements as they do originals. HAHA its laughable.
