Oh, boy. I think youre trying to dabble into registry settings. I highly recommend not going that route just yet until you get a better understanding of what it is youre doing.

If youre trying to gain better battery life and performance in general, then I suggest you flash to a custom ROM, as most of the chefs here have already implented much of the performance tweaks.

If you havent read the Stickies in the 'Upgrades' section, i implore you to do so.

In order to modify registry keys (which is what Im assuming you meant by 'HKLM') you need a registry editor program like PHM RegEdit or total commander or dotFred's task manager. But make sure you know what youre doing because screwing around in the registry can cause all kinds of a disaster.

This is what they mean. Used for flashing your phone, ie installing roms and such.

No. 'Unlocking' your device basically means that you remove the restrictions set upon it by whomever, so that you can flash (or "install") custom ROMs on your device. And this can be advantageous because there are plenty of excellent ROMs floating around PPCGeeks which outshine stock carrier ROMs (i.e. Sprint's) by night and day.

If you want to go that route, I would personally recommend you read a bit before you 'unlock' your phone and flash a custom ROM. After which, MightyRom and Juicy would both be great candidates for a fast, stable, battery conscious ROM.

oh damn thats alot of stuff to do but ok but i do have total commander and advanced config on my pro now and have done a lil playn around to wake my phone up when i get a text but i just wanted to know how 2 da hklm files u no cuz i do something bout pc but not the ppc but when i ready to flash my phone i know where to go i just like b walk n wit the stuff!!! lazy i am

HKLM is just short for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Like was already mentioned, you need a registry editor to be able to change anything in there.
