I'm trying to figure out how to reduce the clock during suspend closer to when the device actually suspends. I've also added a processor information utility. Still trying to figure out the architecture for the per-application frequency adjustment. most likely I will have a loader that will watch applications being loaded, we'll see about that. Quote:

no2chem,
i tried going through the dotfred task manager and stopping NDCO and it still will not remove. not biggie, i can always hard reset since i don't have much loaded on here but just wanted to bring that to your attention. |
Re: [4-20] nueDynamicClock - dynamically adjust clock for battery life
so, day 2 of using this fabulous program.
I did a full charge last night and unplugged it at 9am. I've been CONSTANTLY bringing it of suspend just to check the battery reading throughout the day and stare at it in amazment. talked on the phone a bunch, had a bunch of push emails come through etc. it's now 11:20pm (14 hours later) and I'm at 53%. I'm gonna NOT charge it tonight and see how far into tomorrow I can get with it. This program is so awesome! |
Re: [4-20] nueDynamicClock - dynamically adjust clock for battery life

I believe 528 216 81 18 or whatever the closest values are to those. it's now 3pm the next day, so 30 hours and it just hit 10% thats 3.5 times the battery life I was experiencing prior to this. plugging it in now, as I'll need the phone when I'm out later tonight. |

nueDymanicClock seems to be working great for me so far w/the settings posted in the screen capture on no2's site.
my phone also locks up when trying to close nuePower. not really an issue, but figured i would confirm that it was happening here too. (Calc's kitchen 21501 cooked rom) |
Re: [4-20] nueDynamicClock - dynamically adjust clock for battery life
Man, I'm stumped. I was so excited about this app after reading through the posts.
But I don't care what I do, I can't seem to improve the life of this thing. I've done all the standard tweaks, as well as added this cool little app., but don't seem to see a noticable difference. I get up about 6:15 everyday and by lunchtime I'm under 30% regardless of what I do. I don't push mail, get a few texts during that time, I might check email once or twice, and the weather updates on the hour. Backlight shuts off after 30 secs. and data cuts off after 1 min. I'm running 528, 384, 81, 81 on the nueDynClock, have the stock ROM with the latest Sprint radio. I also use TF3D. ](*,)](*,)](*,)](*,):drunken: |

lower the power usage of the applications processor isn't going to do much if the radio transciever / radio are sucking up power like crazy. |
Re: [4-20] nueDynamicClock - dynamically adjust clock for battery life
I belive I'm on the latest ROM and Radio, I updated the radio in the last month or so.

nue2chem - when I install one of the popular ROMs - like Mighty or Juicy does it update the radio automatically or do I have to do update radio separately ? |
Re: [4-20] nueDynamicClock - dynamically adjust clock for battery life
as far as I know only the "shipped" rom's have the radio.
@ GRB when was the last time you let the battery die completely? also it looks like your running the stock rom... :( it is notorious for bad battery. |

It "powers down" quite often, I believe it's when the battery reaches 10%, As far as a complete drain, I can't say I've ever done that. I wouldn't even know how. And yes, I'm on the latest stock ROM. Although I've done a ton of modifications, I haven't quite mustered up the Cajones to attempt Flashing :???: To the poster that suggested an exchange: that's pretty much out of the question since I bought the phone 3rd party, thus no warranty. I love this phone and look forward to getting a Diamond 2 (since I don't use the slideout) when my plan expires in Dec, But the battery life is a potential deal killer if you know what I mean. Sorry for getting off topic. |

Re: [4-20] nueDynamicClock - dynamically adjust clock for battery life
this program seems awesome. but im using windows 6.5, calc diamond kitchen. and i get a lot of lock ups. i have to soft reset numerous times a day because i cant get the phone to wake up. is this a known issue with 6.5?
|
Re: [4-20] nueDynamicClock - dynamically adjust clock for battery life
i'm using calc's 6.5 (21501) v4.6.3 kitchen and haven't had any of the issues you've described.
adding any extra OEMs or anything? |
Re: [4-20] nueDynamicClock - dynamically adjust clock for battery life
just my mail OEM, Touchpal, pocket video poker.
it also freezes when i use WMP. |
Re: [4-20] nueDynamicClock - dynamically adjust clock for battery life
I know most of you would not beleive this, or try it yourselves, but I've been running the phone with the CPU set permanently to 256 mhz, and honestly I see almost NO hit in performance at all.
SK Tools benchmarking showed about a 30-40% drop in performance on some tests, but so far none of the apps I run seem to be any slower. Opera Mobile still loads pages fast and zooms and pans smoothly. I havent had any more lock ups with music playing like I did with a dynamic clockspeed. Benchmarking a video in Coreplayer that usually gets me 200% came back with 170% while underclocked. PocketNester still runs at 60 FPS. Opera Mini DID suffer with choppier zoom animations. S2U2 also runs a little choppier. Nothing major. At this point I'm going to stick with 256 mhz and see how my battery fares... but really performance-wise I see almost no difference, even when running several apps. I encourage you guys to try it out.. though I do have to mention, I do NOT use TF3D, so that may or may not be affected. |

Re: [4-24] nueDynamicClock 1.1 - tons more features, hopefully less bugs
Sorry for the second immediate post (different issue, don't want to blend the two)
After the reboot, the phone did not boot past the splash screen. I do have Monocube's Safemode installed (which adds itself to the boot process). I attempted to soft reset a number of times, eventually, I just started tapping the OK/Action button for no apparent reason during one reset. I noticed that the Safemode option did not appear, however, the phone still stalled at the HTC splash screen. I then started working on my SDConfig.txt to remove Safemode incase I need to reload - and then I looked at my phone - it had hard reset itself. I am going to reload again (I was editing SDConfig so my MicroSD card isn't in my phone) without Safemode and will try installing again. Running MightyROM 4.16 |
Re: [4-24] nueDynamicClock 1.1 - tons more features, hopefully less bugs
Phone is taking an insane amount of time to boot after first installing this. It gets stuck at the splash screen for more than 10 minutes! After that, everything is fast as usual. Using Juicy 7 090424H.

Re: [4-24] nueDynamicClock 1.1 - tons more features, hopefully less bugs
Stuck at the second windows splash screen, looks like a hard reset is in my future...
Edit...as above it finally boots...but it takes a LONG time to get there... Edit 2...it seems every reset after takes an insane amount of time to start up, going to uninstall... |
Re: [4-24] nueDynamicClock 1.1 - tons more features, hopefully less bugs
same results as mgioia2 but i didnt wait for it to get into windows, hard reset and trying with fresh install
|
Re: [4-24] nueDynamicClock 1.1 - tons more features, hopefully less bugs
Same results here using PsykiROM... been on splash screen for 5min so far... I'm waiting it out, but likely will hard reset as well...
