Radio Update?

Well I have seen various threads where someone is told to try and update their radio to a newer one, ive seen this in a few threads mostly battery life threads. So...

What exactly is a radio update?

Does it completely wipe out my phone like a rom update?

Im running Sprint in Southern California (Tustin/Irvine), which radio should work best?

Where does one get these radio updates?

Im running a Sprint Touch Pro (bought on release date) running MightyRom 4.16

A Radio Upgrades are different radios for your signal strength and speed

It doesn't do a hard reset only a soft reset so no data are lost

My favorite is the Telus

and you upgrade the radio the same way as flashing but no hard reset

yeah, definitely telus. i put the us cellular radio on my ex'x tp, and it was using more power to do the same things. not much, but more. it also got slightly hotter.

Are you using the V1.04.05V (Telus Update) radio? I'm in the NYC area and was wondering if it runs better, hotter, faster than the new Sprint radio v 1.11.00f?

If im using a touch pro flashed to metro pcs would a dif. radio do any thing for me? lol.. does a radio just give you signal strength or what?

Im using a sprint tp flashed to cricket and I have a weak signal. Sometimes I get full bars but it goes up and down while I watch it. Right now Im getting 1 bar. When I make a call it will go to 3 bars at 1x rather than evdo. I have been looking for battery hacks because I cant make it half the day on the stock battery. After reading this thread I have come to realize that my signal is the weak link. Can I do this radio update without loosing my cricket service?

It says Im using radio version 1.03.15f. Anyone know if this might be why Im getting low signal?
