IR stands for Infra-Red. The majority of remote controls for TVs, VCRs, DVD players, and stereo systems use an infrared LED (Light Emitting Diode) to transmit commands to the receiving unit. This LED is usually hidden behind a dark piece of plastic (look at the tips of your remotes). Older PDAs & PDA phones had infrared communication to allow syncing with other PDAs as well as laptops. This has all but gone away with the emergence of bluetooth which was faster & didn't require direct line-of-sight between both devices.
The Touch Pro doesn't have IR. |

I stand corrected. I remember taking tape off the side of my TP when I first got it, and just assumed that the tape was protecting the IR port. I just looked at it again, and there is no IR port there. Hmmmm... sorry 'bout that.
