bizarre and strange tethering problem
if you guys can't help me then i guess it's hopeless.
I'm tethering my touch pro on Xp and newer machines using ICS and/or WMWIFIRouter (BTW worth the money for the latest version). I can tether if the host computer doesn't have activesync using these handy files from this thread- http://tinyurl.com/cchqsn which i keep on my storage card. the problem is i work on a lot of industrial equipment running win 2k and even sometimes win 98. Being able to get these online when I need something off the net is very handy. How can I do this with my touch pro? I looked into the RNDIS method as well as the wmodem route and can't find anything that will support anything older than XP. Any ideas? These are customers machines and I have to be able to do this with the least amount of alteration as possible to the host computer. thanks. |

Re: bizarre and strange tethering problem
it wont work... u cant setup adhoc networks on pre xp.. if you look in your settings and connection manager, youll see the "show this as adhoc" is greyed out... you need to be able to check that box to get wmwifi to work... and it wont happen.. i tried for 2 hrs to use my TP on my friends old laptop, and thats the 1 thing i couldnt get past was the one little check box...
ics, bluetooth, wmodem, pdastatus i cant speak for..i dont use em, never have also your link, is for a TOUCH, not a Touch Pro, though i doubt that makes a diff... id get rid of those, you shouldnt need them for anything on your PRO, especially to tether.. id get rid of em sine you say thats whats running on blocking you from usage

Re: bizarre and strange tethering problem
I was just looking for something to avoid installing activesync, that's why I used what was in the link
