To many years of loud rock music, gunshots & Harley drag pipes has really done in my hearing & I can't hear sh!t. I have never been able to get my Sprint TP's loud enough. When I had my Titan's & used the GC Audiopara file, it was REALLY REALLY loud. That doesn't work for me in the Sprint TP's however. I have the Badboy Loud AP file installed & it helps, but nowhere near as much as it did in the titan. ~John |

Yeah I'm kind of self conscious about it because everyone around me can hear very clearly what someone is saying to me, so I have to turn it down a lot. :p

Bast525,
Being an avid PPCG lurker I must commend pulling me out of the shadows to post. I must ask you a question that I'm not sure you covered. If you have I humbly beg forgiveness :P Did you notice (in the stock roms for both), any registry tweaks enhancing the touch pro's? To me, I don't think that one is better than the other unless they're identical, and I know when I threw some enhancements into the registry I was able to almost completely change the performance for the better? We're all too familiar with wreaking our toys... errr scratch that "enhancing our phones", so I can't see why VZW / SPRINT may or may not have played with the reg enhancements themselves. A true test, assuming something did change, would be to ensure all constants the same. I'm more curious than really defending either side. I have my Sprint TP and I'm happy with it. I won't ***** over anything ...........today. |
Re: From Verizon Touch Pro to Sprint version... is it really that much better?
I didnt do any digging around in the registry on the stock sprint rom, so I couldnt say. Stock to stock the Sprint was a little quicker and ran TF3D better than the VZW does.
But for the purpose of my side by side comparison, the two phones were set up exactly the same. Running the same custom ROM, though I did set a much higher page pool for the Sprint (24 MB vs 9 MB). I do use some reg tweaks and I used the same ones on both phones. To me this is as equal a method I could think of for testing... even with the Sprint still having the extra page pool. But they still performed more or less idendtically. |

Mine did, it came with one battery in the retail box and an additional battery inside the box they shipped it to me in, fully charged and ready to use at that. Kudos to Sprint for sending a phone fully ready to use, I took the battery in the retail box and put it on the charger. |

Why not use the SPB Mobile Shell instead of the SPB Phone Suite/Weather etc all separate from each other?. The new 3.0 version of Mobile Shell is just going to be that much better and it blows the TF3D out of the water. |
Re: From Verizon Touch Pro to Sprint version... is it really that much better?
My main frustration right now, having gone back to the verizon model, is the lack of support for other ROMs being friendly to the lesser memory...
For instance, I liked using juicy's ROMs on my alltel phone but I can't get them to work properly on the verizon device for some reason... I even set the pagepool down to 8mb and it still gobbles up over 20mb more than using bored's or scott's ROM... I'm not quite sure what is doing this but even trying mike's and others I get the same results.. It appears only the ROM developers using the verizon device are putting out compatable ROMs for the xv6850... kind of limits the flexability of what you can flash but I'm still trying to overcome this hurdle... there has to be an explanation for it! |
Re: From Verizon Touch Pro to Sprint version... is it really that much better?
Zenoran - I have noticed this as well. It was really bad with Juicy's rom... I booted with like 20 MB free. Which I dont get how with a rom cooked from SSK 1.5 with TF3D enabled I boot with almost three times that.
I didnt see anything special in the Juicy rom, nothing extra running, and I had set page pool to 9 MB. So I dont get why its such a ram hog. But really, I dont understand the incessant need to switch roms all the time anyways. After flashing a rom cooked with SSK.... it's very fast (as shown in the video I posted here), very stable, runs with a ton of free ram, and while the kitchen is light on frills you can add in your own OEM's so you can cook whatever you want. I've been running the same rom for months and I love it. Why should it matter that other roms arent properly optimized to save ram? None of them do anything so special that I cant do with SSK. Unless you just HAVE to have the new TP2 Manila, which I hear is buggy as hell right now anyways. And I'm sure once the bugs are ironed out Scott will give us a way to flash it. |
Re: From Verizon Touch Pro to Sprint version... is it really that much better?
Silence's new 8.5 ROM runs pretty well on my VZTP, with the default PP of 16. I've been using MightyRom but am curious to try out others.
