Re: From Verizon Touch Pro to Sprint version... is it really that much better?
Everything in this thread makes me think the real bottleneck is the memory bus and the way the phone handles memory addressing and paging.
That said, testing the phones with a ROM optimized for the lowest common denominator will not show any difference. Additional memory doesn't help if it isn't being used. You're basically doing the equivalent of running a basic MS excel spreadsheet on two PCs, one of which is a Core 2 Duo e6400 with a 250GB HD and 2GB of RAM and the other is identical but hasa 500GB hard drive and 4GB of RAM. In that scenerio they will perform identically, but once you start loading up Photoshop CS3 or Adobe Premiere or adding in several more apps the second PC will start to separate itself. Start running several memory hungry apps like the current version of AIM, Voice Command, and GPS and the phones will begin to separate themselves |
