I have 64 bit vista as well and for some reason every once in a while when i change some major setting on my phone or computer it decides it doesnt want to sync up or read from that usb port. So I just plug it into a different port and tada! it recognizes as a new device and syncs right up.

maybe it will reinstall the stuff and work properly. iunno.

Try microsoft my phone too. I know thats not what you are looking for, but it may be a solution for syncing. Also, I know you won't want to, but I had the same problem at one time and had to hard reset. Oh, and I am sorry if you said you did and I missed it, but have you tried resetting both?

^^ yea i've hard reset before.

i'm actually a sales rep for sprint and i have a Cellebrite machine at work so i do it pretty often, sometimes i notice a lag after a month or so of loading and unloading cabs, plus some junk files always get left behind.

so i dont mind the reset, and i've tried it. the whole reason for me wanting to sync so bad is because i have a brand new Pro sitting at home in the wrapper waiting to be activated, so i need to sync up before i switch. my current one has a screen problem.

but whats this Microsoft My Phone? got a link?

i just want to be able to flash ROMs and be done with it!

Microsoft My Phone is a new sync option from microsoft. I have 64 bit windows ultimate as well. I notice that it does not sync instantly like my xp used. If I let it sit awhile maybe 15-30 seconds it then says that it is connecting and continues with the sync process. All of the problems that I have had in the past were solved by uninstalling activesync/wmdc and then restart the pc with a fresh install of activesync/wmdc. All of these have been previously suggested and should work. I currnetly and running windows seven on my other pc and it is 64 bit also. They both sync and flash with no problems. Windows seven is actually alot better than vista IMO. Anyway, good luck.

^^ yea i love how 7 is looking, i just don't want to run a Beta OS on my machine in case theres some bad bugs or something. i'll just wait til it releases, im definitely switching to that though. Vista isnt super bad, i dont mind it (whereas some people blatantly just want to burn it to hell, for what reason im not sure), but 7 looks like a vast upgrade so far from what i've seen.

ive let it sit for a long amount of time and its done nothing, so i'll just try uninstalling and restarting, then reinstall and try it, as well as these other solutions.

Had issue similar synced up first time, but afta that no luck. Rebooted vista works perfect now.

Install WMDC 6.0 FISRT, then upgrade it to 6.1. known issues if just using 6.1 on vista 64bit.

then restart the pc, wait, and plug in you phone, it'll recognise it as a sync device.
