What did you end up having to do? It sounded like you were going to relock, then unlock, then flash the radio again? Is that what you ended up having to do? Congrats on getting it to run, though. Once you get it to go the first time you'll be more apt to try other ROMs just because you can swap back and forth comfortably now.

from personal experience, custom ROM has made my device so much better. Its faster, my battery life is way better, and i get more functionality. The beauty of the windows mobile OS is the customizability, so why not take advantage?

To be honest I was never really worried I would brick the phone. I have all my data backed up and the phone is insured so it wouldnt be that huge a deal if I bricked it... and I still have my Mogul to fall back on till I get a new TP. But having to hard reset and re-install on my buggy old Mogul so many times traumatised me against anything to do with hard resets. The TouchPro and PPCGeeks and XDA support is proving good therapy I guess. Slowly coming out of my shell... and this unlock and radio upgrade was a big break through I think.

I was being retarded. They created two duplicate threads for the 6 new radios... one in the TouchPro forum and one in the Diamond forum for Touch Pro radio RUUs and Diamond radio RUUs respectively. I had BOTH threads opened and downloaded one from the wrong thread. I just had to realize that and get the right one and flash it. I did the unlock fine. So I got it working without relocking or hard resetting. Although I was close to doing both. Whew! You live and you learn...

but yeah no2chem's roms are bad ***, fast and clean! with all the n2c goodness baked right inside of each little one!

there is a huge difference between stock and custom roms but right now i'm running Silence Rom 3 http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=60375

I kinda went through the same thing, Fiyah. I didn't wanna unlock or anything and I thought my stock ROM was just fine. I was a bit curious, though. The thing that convinced me to unlock my phone was all the stuff about the Telus radio being so much better. I decided to try that radio, and yeah, it was a bit better than the stock Sprint radio.

A few weeks later, I figured, okay, I got my phone unlocked already, I'll try to flash a rom just to see what the hype is about. I flashed a few roms, and honestly, it wasn't really that much better than before. I was thinking about flashing back to stock, until I finally tried Juicy's 4.13 rom. I thought it was definitely snappier than stock (and the other roms I had tried) and I was going to keep it.

Then I tried Juicy's latest rom (5). Wow, that made a HUGE difference for me. I swear, things open before I even click. It's like this rom reads my mind or something.

For what it's worth, I've used several different custom ROM's for my Touch Pro, but I am currently running a stock ROM. I have added the 1.11 Radio, HD Manilla, some reg edits, and other various tweaks. To be completely honest, it is every bit as efficient and snappy as the custom ROM's I've tried.

How do you like the HD manilla? From what I have read it still has a few bugs and landscape mode is missing?

Yeah...it lacks landscape, but I hardly ever use that mode anyway. The only time I ever use landscape mode is watching videos. I have no other problems with anything else about it. It is really responsive and quick.

After using Custom ROMs, I would never go back to a stock ROM. They just simply suck a$$. LOL
