Replacements coming as refurbs yet? [4-25-09 - Some Refurbs]

yea I think they put together the first wave of them in too much of a rush. now that they don't need to crank out millions at a time they are taking their time and building a solid phone.

Recently, I seem to have managed to screw up the data capability on my phone, and what I -think- was a mistake on the rep's part, my MSL does not match what Sprint says I should have any more. I think he was just reading a digit wrong (because I used BAF MSL grabber later and it was all the same except one digit).

Anyway, he said he needed to send me a new phone and one would be on the way immediately, shipped UPS overnight standard (!!!). It was sent today (Friday) so I should see it Monday. He asked if my battery was still ok, and told me I'd need to re-use my phone's back cover and battery on the replacement.

I'm also getting charged, and I quote "$35 to $55 for the shipping and handling because you do not have TEP." I asked him if he could get that number nailed down and he wasn't sure.

All of this has been a little on the confusing side, and while I would like a brand new TP again, this will be my forth one, the other ones have gone back for hardware defects (aka hardware keyboard failing, earpiece not working, etc). Additionally, I don't have TEP (but you can bet I'm adding it to the new one and dropping Worst Buy's insurance FINALLY) so I'm taking whatever I can get.

Anyway, long, pointless story. I just mean to ask, are people still getting nothing but brand new TP's from Sprint?

I have the insurance from Sprint not "Worst Buy" and when I had problems with my 4th Mogul I talked tp Sprint and they sent me a Diamond, but didn't like not having keyboard or storage card so I contacted them and they sent me my new not refurbished Touch Pro free. There are benefits to paying for the insurance.

i got a refurb... no big deal... dont mind it, worst cause ill replace it later, i got the protection plan... thats how i got the TP for free and extending my contract or anything... had problems with my mogul.

had problems with my new TP so now i have this one...

dont know why people are so scared with refurb phones.. yeah they are not new but you can get a great phone.

i got a refurb about a week ago but i told them that the button on one side was mess up (not true) and they send me a brand new one.. i keeped my old one for testing purposes.

you will be charged $200 if you don't return the old one within 15 days. shadowdrake: it depends on who ordered the replacement. assurion usually sends out new replacements but tech support sends out refurbs.

sometimes the refurbs are still broken. i'm staring at a refurbed tp now that you have to press the screen so hard that the pixels on the screen scramble! i'm still waiting for tech support to send a return kit for a month now.

well it happens, you can get a bad one. mine is not bad, the only thing i didnt like too much is that the d-pad is not flush with the screen. not like it is from factory. but it doesnt bother me that much.....

that's a great attitude! i complained because they just sent me a phone and battery cover! not even a screen protector!
