Re: Touch Pro Backup Applications/Software

they're both excellent... sprite i'd say is more exhaustive... spb is very quick and easy. I use spb because a friend purchased it for me lol...

Re: Touch Pro Backup Applications/Software

It sounds like I should buy Sprite(or at least try it out first).

Re: Touch Pro Backup Applications/Software

couple of questions for those using Sprite:

1: If I have to do a hard reset all I need to do is reinstall Sprite and then select the restore option correct?

2: Should I try it out? Just do a restore to see if it worked?

Thank you in advance

You don't need to reinstall Sprite after a hard reset, the BU file is an exe that will run & restore itself.

When I do backups, I do a "custom BU" & select everything except the storage card. When I do restores, I use merge option one & it works perfectly everytime (& I've probably done it 100 times)

Great thanks! I couldnt get it to backup to pc. It said ActiveSync was not connected, even though it was, so I just copied the BU file from my card to my computer. If I loose my phone or there is a problem with the card I can just use that file on a new card/phone. That will work, right?

Yes, that will work fine (I've done it many times)

Not entirely. If you backup on one phone and restore on another, the two programs Update Profile and Update PRL will fail with an error (407, if I recall correctly). Others confirm this, and say that there is no workaround.

I have restored a Sprite BU to a different TouchPro many times & it worked just fine for me. These where both Sprint TP's converted to Verizon service & I was able to do a PRL update with no problem.

Re: Touch Pro Backup Applications/Software

jmorton (or anyone who has done this for that matter),

If you backup everything on your phone except the storage card and then lets say flash a new ROM, when you restore does it load your programs and such that you had loaded on the phone before? Also, if the new ROM does not have some of the programs that the Stock ROM had, when you restore do those programs get loaded again? I guess what I'm trying to get at is I'm considering flashing a new ROM mainly just for the heck of it and want to know if restoring everything that was backed up from the Stock Rom would then lead the newly flashed ROM back in that direction. If I am completely off in this thought then I apologize for my stupidity.
