As promised, here is the new version, which will turn off TV out if its already on. I also stole the icon from the control panel, so it looks better now.

I went digging though my cables and remembered I had a cable like the one in the OP for my DVD player. Found out it was only for audio. Just for fun I plugged it into my TV and got audio.

Went digging some more and found the video cable. It is 3.5 mm on one end and RCA on the other...both yellow. Figured if the audio would work, then the video would too!

Unfortunately it did not. When I plugged the yellow into the red or white, I got audio again though. Any ideas on if I can make this work?

The icon in the HTC applet didn't have enough sizes, so for the start menu, there won't be one.

Thia is really nice. i got impatient, and decided to go to radio shack and overpay for cables. the clerk asked me what i needed them for, and when i explained, he darn near exploded telling me how it cant and wont work. also told me even trying it would fry my phone and cables. i so wanna go back to yhat store and plug this into one of their tv's and say "really??!!" thanks again for sharing your find. It works awesome!!!

So very true. I was polite and didnt argue the fact that i knew 100% it would work. It just kinda irked me that he got so worked up about it and was so sure of himself, without really knowing what he was talking about.
