Im using JDs 6.5 rom and the lag is present but only depending on what app i use. I have the most lag in the txting app, i have a little in word mobile, and none in opera mini.... I HAVE NO LAG WHATSOEVER IN OPERA MINI!

When i hit an input txt box in opera mini, its a really simple box that doesnt even allow auto capitalization of first letters per line. I think theres other processes checking the input as we type and thats where the lag is coming from. Also, i have t9 disabled.

i have t9 disabled as well, but the weird thing is, i only notice it while in an SMS, i dont notice it with anything else!? it's so weird! i can hard reset my device and go directly into a new SMS and its still laggy. why would it only be in SMS?

I havent read through this thread yet, but has anyone looked for a registry key that is associated with the sms program? I dont even know the name of the process or how to find its key, but im thinking there has to be a setting in there thats allowing each key stroke to be analyzed in such a slow manner.

edit* oddly enough, the one ive found titled HKCU/Software/Microsoft/SMS, it has no keys associated with it, it has to be somewhere else

I have yet to experience lag typing in the Rhodium SMS tab. Its definitely something in the stock SMS app.

I can also confirm that with using TF3D2's SMS app (I am running Juicy's ROM), the lag is not present. My biggest complaint there though is you can't tell how many characters you are typing.

Guess you can't have everything you want though.

What if someone were to use the old CodyPPC threaded messaging from before WM 6.1? Maybe lag could improve?

I had a lot of trouble with the CodyPPC Threaded Messaging back prior to Windows 6.1, so I am not willing to attempt to go down that road.

What I think helps to know though, is that XT9 or any other app doesn't appear to be the cause for the lag. It almost certainly seems like the Messaging app itself.

Agreed. I've not had lag problems on Juicy ROMs, but also can't select a ringtone. Guess it is a case of pick your poison.
