Re: Official Keyboard Lag Thread
I've posted in a number of those threads about the keyboard lag, and it really is disheartening that the issue hasn't been at the forefront as much as it should be.
I text, a LOT. By a lot, I mean, 14,000+ a month. The Touch Pro so far has driven me somewhat crazy. I loved my Apache, I loved my Mogul, and I love my Touch Pro, but it's more of a love-hate thing. The second I started using it, I felt the lag. The bundled XT9 software has got to be the culprit. I've tried every registry tweak, fix cab, settings change possible. It persists. If you fix it somewhere, it only seems to gradually get worse because you're either still populating the T9 My Words list (although now you can't even get to it to delete them), or for some other reason. Furthermore, the issue seems to only really manifest itself in the SMS composition screen. You know, in the threaded, "I want to write a message" box at the very bottom. Opera, notes, everything else is fine and speedy. But right here, input (as someone else said) lags behind so severely that it drives me insane. I hate it. Yesterday, after typing a long message which I had to wait (no kidding) 30 seconds for to catch up, I had enough. I took my anger out on this phone and absolutely trashed it. (I went and got a replacement the next day, but honestly... I'm really at the end of dealing with this, and none of the ROM cookers seem to specifically address it ever. I don't get what the point of having T9 on a QWERTY keyboard device is, either. First person to rip all that crap out and come up with a usable ROM that doesn't have absolutely inhuman lag in the SMS composition screen will get a huge donation from yours truly. |

As far as I'm concerned, the thing is now only a stopgap between me and the Palm Pre. I cannot stand the keyboard lag issue. What's the point of having a keyboard if it is at best somewhat usable. Doesn't make sense to me. I'm stunned that this isn't a bigger issue. I'm convinced nobody actually _uses_ the thing. |

using RSTG Sprint Stock Custom Rom and this fix worked very well for me! thanks! it was usually 2-3 letters behind and now keeps right up with me

Try cooking a rom with all of the DLLs for HTC ezinput turned into modules. I did that from the beginning so can't say that I ever experienced lag, but I can say that I don't have lag with this done, even with xt9 both installed and enabled. BTW, provided you don't use too many uncommon words, you can get quite fast with predictive input plus a keyboard... |

I really love the functionality of the WinMo phones, and it almost seems silly that I would have to leave the OS for a stupid thing such as slow txting (which is the only thing that it lags considerably) but, I am paying for a 500+ peice of technology and I am not about to take people's (engineers or whoever builds the phones) laziness and avoidance of a problem... so, Good bye WinMo, Hello Palm (pre)... Glad palm got rid of its old (but stable and fast) OS, Now I actually have an option to WinMo...Just hoping that they don't do the whole Instinct crap and not allow me to use my cheap SERO Plan...But I digress... -CD |
Re: Official Keyboard Lag Thread
I have found that when fixes or cabs do not help, I have to move on to greener pastures.
NO, I dont mean the phone! U must let go of the rom and flash to another. Right now I am on KK's loaded 1.7 rom and not having any lag issues. there are others but I have not made note of them. |
Re: Official Keyboard Lag Thread
I would officially like to confuse things.
I tried both cab posted within this thread and it seems to be a minor improvement in the lag. However, is this just a placebo effect? I will try and to remember to post with further testing results. |
Re: Official Keyboard Lag Thread
Its not windows mobile....... Its HTC and their ****ty half ***** drivers they so choose to skimp on. Or the LACK of these drivers. I am so fed up of HTC and Qualcom and their monopoly on the Win Mo world. Its an absolute joke, the TI omap proc in the HTC elf can draw the start menu w/o lag probably because it has drivers. HTC needs to get off Qualcoms High horse and go to intel or something. Screw production costs make your customers happy.
