Lol, Im watching the wings and blue jackets right now on slingbox while my kids playing Guitar Hero on Xbox...

BTW, I'm running with a 3mb upload speed from my isp. That has alot to do with the quality.

You did open all the ports on your router for Slingbox right?

Ditto. I'm not sure why people aren't listing upload information to offer a more fair comparison.

I don't use either one, but I'm sure my 5megabit upload would allow for some very stellar video.

Thanks, but after comparing the two for the last 30 minutes or so I really cant tell the difference between the two. What is the difference between .111 and .112?

thats overkill for streaming slingbox. no worries about choppiness there. i have 768 upload and thats plenty adequate.

What do you mean by "open all ports on your router for slingbox"? Also... what settings are you using on Encoding Parameters? I'm getting about 5fps and 98-103 Kbps!

I've had SlingPlayer on my Mogul... it was much better than it is now on my TP. I need some help, before I never use Sling again!

Re: slingbox and orb live video quality

I believe that the slingplayer mobile is suffering from the rollercoaster EVDO performance. The old EVDO spec on my ancient Treo behaved the same way. REV-A is no better. It is constantly trying to optimize 40 to 60 % of the time. Unless slingstream optimization is checked, the manual settings are not going to work well. I have tried everything in the settings to gain Kbps and Framerate to no avail. Kbps can be high, but the framerate suffers at 1 to 3 or hoovers around 10 to 15 fps. I walk the dog around the block outside with perfect weather in a major metro region. Sling still sputters occasionally. I look at the signal and it is full.

It works good with manual settings on WIFI in the house. Bitrate and framerate are very stable. 500 kbps + and over 20 fps.

Externally, my upload is 1mb. I consistently get 800 to 1100 kbps at work connection with desktop slingbox- so I know it is not my upload connection. It almost never rebuffers or optimizes except when first connected.

I wish they could re-write it somehow to buffer more time... like 30 seconds so that there is no way a slowdown in internet speed can affect the buffer.

that has always bugged me too.

I also got much better Sling performance in my old Titan/Mogul than I get in the TouchPro.

Go to http://www.portforward.com/ and choose your brand of router that you use. Then find Slingbox in the list of software and it will walk you through the procedure.

Did you post this a few weeks ago??

If it's the same one, I didn't see any difference whatever.
