Re: Touch Pro - next to no reception in "good" coverage area
I went with the Airave and it's freaking awesome 5 bars all throughout my house and the unit is sitting in my basement. Only problem you are going to hate paying for it because i know i am. almost $10 extra bucks just to have service. I'm also in a Good Coverage area and without the Airave i can not make or receive calls inside my house or even outside my house. I have tired mutil times to have sprint cover my extra monthly charge but they won't it sucks.

Re: Touch Pro - next to no reception in "good" coverage area
My suggestion is to purchase an antenna booster. It's a specially designed sticker that gets placed on the back of your phone under the battery cover. they're fairly cheep and can be found on eBay as well as various sites on the internet. I've used them on all of my past phones including the TP I have now. Some people have mixed feelings about them, but they work well for me. (well enough for me to recommend). I have crappy reception at home, always have (i think it's a dead/dying zone), but with the booster applied, i went from 0-1 bars to 3-4 bars! hope this works for you.

I'm going to back up my data in a sec and do a hard reset, see where that gets me. Crossing fingers. |

Re: Touch Pro - next to no reception in "good" coverage area
Did a hard reset, and then on booting I got a "failed to start cprog.exe" message. TouchFLO wouldn't boot. Argh!
A second hard reset seems to have fixed that. However, the reception is still crap. On to the custom radio installation. I'm guessing it's a difficult process.. going to look at the thread now. Thanks for the suggestions. |

I know where to get the files, but how do I actually flash it? haha And I'm considering flashing to the Telus radio, but do you think that might make it worse for me? Since I live in Hawaii and I don't think we have Telus here? |

Re: Touch Pro - next to no reception in "good" coverage area
Shadows, I suggest you try Sprint once more and may be you will find a knowledgeable Tech person that will repro your TP with a different msid, otherwise Happy Flashing.

In the radio thread, the packages you download come with the RUU (Rom Update Utility). For the telus radio, the file you downloaded is a zip file, extract it some place. You'll want to run ROMUpdateUtility.exe... and be sure you have a copy of RUU_Signed.nbh. In the case of the Telus radio, the RUU_Signed.nbh file is 17,995,211 bytes - or 15,574 kb - or 17.1 mb... depending on where you look. If the file size is wrong, download the package again, and be sure you're not using a RUU_Signed.nbh from another rom/radio. Run ROMUpdateUtlilty.exe, and follow the steps: -Connect phone to activesync (or skip this and put the phone into bootloader mode) -next, next, next, i agree, next, blah blah bah Be sure nothing is running on your PC that would cause the flash to fail... you don't want any extra programs running, and you want to minimize the chances of the PC freezing, because if you incorrectly flash the radio you should just call your phone bricked, it's more risky than flashing a ROM. Note that you must unlock your phone first! There's an unlock utility in the flashing sticky in CDMA upgrades, it uses an edited version of the RUU, so extract it somewhere else before using it. You don't want to use the unlocker's RomUpdateUtility.exe to attempt to flash a radio/rom, bad things will happen. |
