And I'm considering flashing to the Telus radio, but do you think that might make it worse for me? Since I live in Hawaii and I don't think we have Telus here?

I live in MI and there's no Telus here, either... Telus is a canadian company as far as I know (and no, Michigan hasn't been assimilated into canada yet

). The radio software doesn't determine which towers you connect to.
In the radio thread, the packages you download come with the RUU (Rom Update Utility). For the telus radio, the file you downloaded is a zip file, extract it some place. You'll want to run ROMUpdateUtility.exe... and be sure you have a copy of RUU_Signed.nbh.
In the case of the Telus radio, the RUU_Signed.nbh file is 17,995,211 bytes - or 15,574 kb - or 17.1 mb... depending on where you look. If the file size is wrong, download the package again, and be sure you're not using a RUU_Signed.nbh from another rom/radio.
Run ROMUpdateUtlilty.exe, and follow the steps:
-Connect phone to activesync (or skip this and put the phone into bootloader mode)
-next, next, next, i agree, next, blah blah bah
Be sure nothing is running on your PC that would cause the flash to fail... you don't want any extra programs running, and you want to minimize the chances of the PC freezing, because if you incorrectly flash the radio you should just call your phone bricked, it's more risky than flashing a ROM.
Note that you must unlock your phone first!
There's an unlock utility in the flashing sticky in CDMA upgrades, it uses an edited version of the RUU, so extract it somewhere else before using it. You don't want to use the unlocker's RomUpdateUtility.exe to attempt to flash a radio/rom, bad things will happen.
