Re: How To: Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

i just called and the tech told me he cant and has "strict" policies and cannot change the voice mail number and that im provided a voice mail and are forced to use that only.:x

[EDIT]

i tried again and this time they told me they cant because its not affiliated with sprint but that i could sign up for enhanced voice mail. screw that:x

I would keep trying. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I have changed it three times... CallWave - Phonefusion and then back to call wave.

I don't really care for the phone fusion application. it sends a tm to your phone when you have a new voicemail. if the phone fusion app is not running I did not find a way to update the VM on the phone.

I set up one of our work phones and didn't have any problems. She didn't wanna do it at first but I explained to her I need all 3 settings set to conditional. She put me on hold a min, came back and it was done. We did a test call while she was still on the phone. Took less than 5 min. I will just have 2 keep an eye on the bill.

You will definitely get charged. The people who got this set up correctly and were not charged did NOT have conditional call forwarding activated.

Re: How To: Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

FVM works great for Alltel. Forwarding is free. Add the FVM 800 number to your my circle and remove the alltel voicemail from your plan, saving $2. Never missed a voicemail and the current FVM app I am using has caller ID working and empty trash automatically on exit. Next revision will have contact pictures included as well.

The original post said to make sure it is set that way, so worth a shot. Will keep an eye on the bill

Plus dude you need 2 chill out, you could have talked to 100 people at sprint, it doesn't matter. I have been calling Sprint for YEARS and anyone that has talked to sprint multiple times knows that every time you call them you get a different answer. When I do have to call sprint I just always keep in mind that I may have to call 2 or 3 times to get what I want since they train all there reps with monkeys. You wouldn't take advice from a monkey would you? Worse case I get billed, I call in see if I can get it fixed, if not I have it changed back. Whoop dee doo

Thanks I didn't know an update was available, I'm about to download it now.

I know it does. For whatever reason the OP hasn't been updated with accurate information. Trust me though, and many of the 100+ people that posted before you, you will be charged. Unconditional AND conditional call forwarding results in a charge of $.20/minute. It has been posted countless times in this thread that the ONLY way to get this done successfully is to have them leave the conditional and unconditional call forwarding alone and just change the default voicemail number. I'm not trying to argue, just trying to make sure you have the right info.

For what it's worth, with a thread this long, the OP really needs to be cleaned up and updated with more accurate info.

Hafrust is right you will be charged. This thread is hella long so you probably didn't read thru it, but there is no way to get this working for sprint anymore for free, you will be charged. Other carriers such as verizon and at&t will not charge for this service but sprint will charge you $.20 per each voicemail.

I don't know how you got that working on a touch pro, but I just downloaded the most recent version of the file and it doesn't pull the caller id, that shouldn't have anything to do with the network. What version of the phonefusion are you using? I'm using version 1.11f

I asked Phonefusion about 2 weeks ago and they said they did not have an update ready or a set date to release one, not sure what that is all about....

Anyway, I haven't updated the OP because that is what worked when i set it up, I probably shouldn't have even mentioned conditional because thats not even really an option under the VM # settings, it is either Unconditional checked or unchecked, but that is what I did....

Anyway, I don't think that anyone will get this to work anymore for free, I set my GFs up the exact same way as mine and she got charged so I deactivated hers...

why would u delete it? Some people might still be able to get it for free or some people might not get a lot of voicemails and don't mind a few forwarding charages.

I'm still waiting to see my bill, should be somewhat soon. Just cause some of you have talked to a couple idiot csrs who don't know anything, that makes some of you think that you know everything which you don't. You get a different answer from sprint any time you call. That's just how it is and always will be. It's certainly possible that I get charged, I just don't know yet. If I do get charaged, oh well. I will try and get it fixed, if I can't I'll just go back to regular voicemail. Just cause some of you don't know how to handle sprint, doesn't mean you should tell the rest of us not to give it a try. Stop acting like you know everything cause you have talked to 2 csrs. Some issues with sprint I have had, I have had to talk to 5+ csrs before I finally get what I want or till I find someone that knows what's up. It's a total crap shoot

Re: How To: Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

I work at a service center for Sprint, and used to work in the local mall doing Sales, and it's true...You call up cust care/tech support, there is a high chance you will get someone who has no idea what they are doing. if it doesn't work out right, hang up, call back again...I had to do this 5-6 times to get a customer set up with his new phone, and it took about 3 hours, but he was happy.

Anywho, concerning this visual voicemail... The second tech i spoke to said unfortunately they disabled the option for them to change the voicemail number, even for their own accounts, as he was trying to do the same thing...They did this about a month to a month and a half ago. He said it was due to some one bouncing signals off towers for other countries, i think... But he also mentioned the one he was looking at using was from www.vodavi.com and it had a built-in windows mobile client. Just wanted to throw this out there...

(Also, I am currently severely sleep deprived, but couldn't go to bed until i spoke to at least 2 technicians.)

Peace.

Just caught your post. I wasn't subscribed to the thread. Are you on Alltel? If so PM me and I'll give you the info on the unreleased update that I have with caller ID and contact pic.

I also use troca 2 to drive the audio off the speaker and into the earpiece I also use troca for skype.

Sprint is so retarded it's not even funny anymore. By using an off net service for your voicemail you're actually saving them money, they don't have to store you VM messages anymore.. another reason I feel good for selling my stock after the earnings pop.

Maybe we should all email Dan hahaha - One tought tho, if you have the unlimited plan are you charged for forwarding? Probably burried in the fine print, I'm too lazy to look.

Re: How To: Set Up Visual Voicemail on your Sprint TP for Free

This doesn't work anymore, it's against the policy to change where the VM goes. You can set up your own foward by using the #72number but that's it.

it didnt work for most from the getgo. This thread probably should get deleted as sprint has become privy to the information and there's no point in even trying anymore.

the people this works for are basically ripping off sprint but can you blame them? It's another loophole made by sprint's stupidity which is causing them to lose money. Just like SERO plans for people who aren't employees or have never even known a sprint employee and untraceable internet tethering. the only difference now is sprint has has told all it's employees about this "exploit" and they put a stop to it.

I really wish I got this working for myself though lol

She agreed to remove the fees once and would transfer me over to tech support who could look into this issue more. The tech I spoke with said their was no way to switch the number because if the routing number does not match my phone number I would be charged for call forwarding regardless. She spoke with another tech who confirmed this issue as well. They ended up switching my VM back to the stock system. Looks like all you's who are not getting charged are lucky!

Well, all that being said,
Does anyone know if this can be acheived by just turning off the VM box totally, and having it all handled on the phone?? I guess this idea would work, but would require someone to write a low-resource hungry program to actually capture the audio clip and have it on the phone.

Maybe something a good mind here can figure out??

Or, is this not possible??

It was written with a hint of sarcasm. Yes, I believe that person works for Sprint, but their point was that since the chances of getting this to work without being charged are so slim, it might be better if people stop trying to avoid angst and frustration.

The new update for FVM+ is nice, I just downloaded it and it now shows the name and pic instead just showing the number, also receives faxes directly to your phone.

I was not charged for the first 6 months or so... but I am getting charged now but it is worth it. Callwave provides me a TM and the wave file in email. The only bad thing is my daughter keeps calling my phone on accident (several times a month) and these CF minutes add up.
