Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date

Looks like I'm the only Build date for 11/27/08... No Problems with my Touch Pro yet... Activated 1/5/09 @ BB for $199.99

Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date

I had my old TP replaced due to chrome issues and speakerphone crackling issues.

My new TP is 1.03.651.1, 12/12/08, 0002.
Marked improvement in speakerphone (doesn't have the crackling sound that can be heard after any notification if you put your ear to the speaker, just an even "white silence") performance, speed is pretty much the same, haven't used the battery hard enough to notice any overheating, perfect non-raised D-pad, still have a squeaky back cover, and the keyboard is still unevenly lighted. Otherwise, I'm VERY glad I went for a replacement.

Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date

01/05/09

Much better build quality than my 10/27/08 one. Speaker sounds better with less distortion, d-pad buttons and power buttons are flush, sliding mechanism is smoother, all the buttons are well lit, left/right d-pad buttons are improved, and the touch response has also improved.

I did notice that the screen on my older phone was a tad bit brighter and whiter. So far I'm very happy!

Re: [Consolidated] [2009 01 13] Touch Pro Build Date

But the real question is... are the new builds good enough to compete with the Pre?

One is available right now, one is not?

For all you know the Pre might have 1000 times more bugs than the Touch Pro. People were all raving about how great the TP was before it was released (and same with about any other pre-release out there).

I know It's just fun to hope. The Pro just let me down so badly, that I will probably pick up the Pre--unless a WM6.5/7 device comes out soon, with a good build quality, that catches my attention.

I know what you mean. I was hesitant until the last day on whether or not to keep my Pro or return it, but then it mysteriously got significantly better battery life (still not "great" but still about 4 times better than what I was getting). I know Li Ion batteries don't require a break in period, but something about either the battery or the phone seems to require it. I also know it wasn't just the phone's reading of battery level, since I would let it run until it died, and it would only take ~12 hours.

Of course I still have some issues, but they mostly don't bother me. The only ones that still annoys me is that my signal reception seems to be worse than it should be (ie other Sprint & Verizon phones can get signal in places that I can't, namely my work). What makes it even more frustrating is that my phone will even be reporting 2 or 3 bars while I'm looking at it, but next thing I know someone is calling my landline trying to reach me cuz my phone went to voicemail (perhaps this is a separate issue, I don't know?), and then I look at my phone again, it still has 2-3 bars, but then will drop down to 0, toggle between roaming, and stick at 0 again, then bounce back and forth between 0 and 2-3. I really hope they come out with a radio update that improves signal whlie reducing power consumption (but I know it isn't likely).

I also I hate that you can't charge while using the phone for any extended period of time. This hasn't really affected me too much, and if it does, then I'll settle for an external battery charger, and a second battery, and just never charge the battery while it is in my phone. Sure, I may have to stop a conversation (or whatever else I'm doing) for a minute while I swap out batteries, which indeed will be highly annoying, but I don't anticipate that being too frequent.

The ring-to-voicemail problem has been brought up many times, regarding the Pro.... I never found a fix, but I can say that about 25% of my calls went to voicemail when I had low signal... whereas my Touch receives 100% of calls (that I know of,) in the same exact area...

For me, I can't simply swap a battery in the middle of an important conference call... That's highly unprofessional--especially when it will take 5 minutes to get back in the call--since the phone has to be reset.
