6/8/09 FIRMWARE UPDATE: Verizon GPS Unlocked

I am trying your formula but when I dial *228, my phone does not do anything and there is no option 1. Also which one is the left soft start. Thank you

I am lost aftert the ppst. I reset but when I dial *228, I got nothing. Is it suppose to do something so I could select option 1? Then which HTC GPS do I need to install? I have the verizon VZ Navigator and the Google Map. Would any of them work? Open up HTC GPS Tool-which one?. Set Chip to Q 7500 ( I could not find this) and mode to Cold Start (left soft key for those who dont know- is it the home key?) then set baud to 4800 and open port. Please help? Thank you

That's really good to know. It means that amAze GPS might now work. AmAze GPS doesn't have a way to manually set the GPS com port.

1. download lllboredlll_VZW_GPS_Fix_v2.cab your storage card or any folder
2. NOW install lllboredlll_VZW_GPS_Fix_v2.cab
3. use gsfinder,total commander or File Explorer to navigate to \windows\ppst.exe (EVERYONE MUST COMPLETE THIS STEP FOR THE FIX TO TAKE AFFECT)
4. reset your device as needed
5. Dial *228 option 1
(the above step is the steps I did, option 2 also works but I needed to prove it takes a full update without rewriting data)
16. reset your device
7. Install HTC GPS Tool if needed
8. I would suggest a soft reset... do what you want on this one
9. Open up HTC GPS Tool. Set Chip to Q 7500 and mode to Cold Start (left soft key for those who dont know) then set baud to 4800 and open port.

Sprint is my carrier.

I installed all these, including GPS Tool and shortly thereafter, my Touch Pro completely failed - the radio, according to the Sprint techs. No data coming (which was true before this install) but shortly after, all voice was lost also, stuck in roaming mode, constantly searching for carrier, not taking any calls.

Now I have a stock Touch Pro with no custom software on it and I am afraid to install anything on it, for fear of it breaking again. In all honesty, I have no idea if these were connected or not. Probably not.

My GPS (Sprint Navigation) works just fine, nobody really explained to me what I get with GPS Tool that I don't already have right now in the stock configuration.

As you said, this thread is for the Verizon TP. I'm not sure why you would have tried to follow these steps on a Sprint TP. What were you trying to achieve? It seems a tad unnecessary to go through all this if your GPS works just fine as you've said. If you only install the QuickGPS portion, you can get faster aquisition times but that's about it. If you're pleased with the current performance, don't do anything with it.

In short, if ain't broke, don't fix it.

I am writing coz i am out of option

i follow everything but i am not getting anything sattellite fixed when i run the htc tools using your method

i have installed the (lllboredlll VZW GPS Fix.cab )
and did the ppst.exe

everything i follow accordinly to instructions
how do i get the sat signal in my htc touch pro

i have no cell phone service in the phone plus the phone is verizon

i want to used here in canada for my carrier

hello......hey just wonderin if anyone elese has run into this? ive installed everything as per boreds instructions. i can lock on 6 sats, but when i try to use google maps gps it tells me that theres no gps receiver found/gps connection error? any ideas of what i could be doin wrong? and thanks everyone so much for this great site!!!!!

After you started Google Maps, did you go into Menu...Options...GPS Settings... and select Set Manually and then COM4 and 4800 ???
