Hey eenieMINI,
I had a similar problem as SkidRow2. I had TCPMP associated with my jpeg files. So all my jpeg files had a little TCPMP icon associated with it and only TCPMP would open my jpegs. After I changed the file setting option in TCPMP to exclude jpeg files, I could no longer open jpeg files natively from file explorer. I then tried re-associating my jpegs as you outlined in your post, and it worked! I think one of the key things to realize is that the Command line should be entered as
:MSPIMG (note the presence of the colon) as you wrote in your post, and not just
MSPIMG alone.
Now, if SkidRow2 (or anybody else for that matter) who has managed to associate his/her jpeg files to HTC album (by probably using Resco Explorer) would use Total Commander to select and hold on a jpeg file (using their stylus), and then select options, then properties, then Association and post what they see under the parameter information listed there.

Try this... using TC select the file with stylus, hold down for options and choose properties. Check the Associate tab what do you see?
Mine says .jpg -> jpegimage then an x and below that is a button for 'associate'.. if I click on that it says
Command: :MSPIMG Parameter: "%1"
Icon File: browsres.dll Index: -6704.....
What do you see? BTW I'm looking at the diamond screen not the TP screen as its not at home right now.
