"Ejecting" a USB mounted TP in XP

Haven't seen this problem and couldn't find an answer searching so here it goes--

I am using the TP as a USB drive under settings.
I plug it into my Windows XP desktop without problems.
When it comes time to disconnect the TP- I can't eject it because Windows says there's an error or it's in use (when I'm done and close all the explorer windows except the active one).
I end up pulling it out anyway but I understand that if I do that with USB flash drives enough times, it may eventually fail. I'm trying to "unmount" or "eject" the TP correctly.

Anyone else have a similar problem or do you guys just unplug and go???

Re: "Ejecting" a USB mounted TP in XP

I just unplug. The only time I use the Stop Device function in XP is for an actual spinning external HD, because I figure that's the only one that is likely to maybe suffer something severe if that's not done. For solid state memory devices I doubt they could ever have anything more than a corrupt file if they were yanked out while being written to.

In device manager, while the phone is plugged in, you can set the properties for "fast removal" although that's probably on by default.

+1. I've never had an issue when removing SSD from my PC (XP or Vista).
