I tried this, I lowered my brightness when plugged into an external source, and on battery to the lowest setting, I unchecked that Auto adjust backlight option.
I also had Airplane mode on, so I cant reduce the number of radios on, can I?

Re: Battery still discharging when plugged into an external battery charger?!?

Yeah I had this problem as well I was using Garmin to get home this weekend and I put the phone on the charger before I even started Garmin because the battery was already on one bar. So about 30 mins in the trip back I got the low battery warning. So Im also having the same issue.

Re: Battery still discharging when plugged into an external battery charger?!?

I'm having a similar issue with mine. It won't charge with a car charger if I'm streaming a podcast. I don't think I'm losing charge, but it isn't gaining any either.

Re: Battery still discharging when plugged into an external battery charger?!?

I found another possible issue that might affect this. The USB spec says the voltage can be between 4V and 5.5V, and this leads to a wide variety of possible chargers that could be considered "compilant". HTC ships with a 5V/1A charger and that seems to work great. I realized that I had a 4.2V/400mA charger that was working fine with the Mogul, but was not charging my TP well. It might just be that I had the phone in a cradle that charges both the phone and an 2nd battery. When using the 4.2V unit, the 2nd battery would not charge at all but the phone said it was charging even though it was slowly losing charge. The battery was not warm at all.

Once I hooked the 5V/1A charger to the cradle, both the 2nd battery and the TP start to get warm and the light indicating the charge on the 2nd battery shows that it is indeed charging.

So if you are using a charger that is not putting out 5V, that might be something to look at. I know that some car chargers will definitely not put out a clean 5V!

Re: Battery still discharging when plugged into an external battery charger?!?

I have found that the external battery charger is providing barely enough power to continue playing the divx movie in TCPMP until the phone displays its "Main Power Very Low" dialog box. This stops the movie, and causes me to press the Dismiss button. Once I hit it, the movie continue for about 30 seconds before the Main Power message appears again. This continues forever.
Is there a way to disable to "Main Power Very Low" dialog box? The fact that it's taking up CPU power to tell me the power is low, might be that extra milliamp that I cannot afford to lose when the battery is so low.

Diomark,
Can this universal battery actually charge the phone? My external battery seems to barely hold the charge as is, it never seems to be able to recharge the battery. (even if I turn off the phone, the battery never goes higher than 10% from my battery charger)
