Re: Graphics Performance issues?
honestly whos surprised? people are never happy with what they have. For myself i find the video just fine, this isnt high-res/high-def like your home system- its on the go viewing, its simply entertainment no matter how much people want to make it sound like life or death here. The greatest irony there is people complain about video drivers yet go and watch Sprint TV which is HORRIBLE quality IMO, and youre worried about the at least decent quality of your side-loaded movies? *head scratcher*
i think the more sad part is people are more up in arms about the drivers which arent THAT horrible, instead of the poor quality control HTC is exhibiting on these phones causing people to swap them 2,3,4,5 times. The polls dont lie, the average person is between 2 and 3 Pros. Priority should be getting a halfway decently built phone, then worry about nit picking a driver, which in the end isnt all that "horrible." This isnt an iphone its not a gaming device nor a media centric device like the iphone is, its market to business people and WM had NEVER been known to be media-centric no matter what ad slogans you want to do one line quotes from HTC about media. We all knew this buying the device and that it wasnt an iphone. My other theory is if you packed all the OS power into an iphone the video would take a serious hit from cpu load, more Ram being used, and other factors. So there is NO perfect device that will do it all perfectly. Taking nuances from the iphone is great to advance our platform, but the envy has to stop already we wont have such a powerful media device anytime soon because the focus of WM is business, and if yo want media first then WM isnt for you. There hasnt been a device yet that does flawless video and is a good business device, theres only so much they can pack in with current technology for now at least. i just think people are being HIGHLY unrealistic here. would i love more performance for free? sure. But honestly will it happen? probably not from past experiences, and im not going to get all bent out of shape about it- im going to enjoy what i have for what it can do which is impressive how far its come in such a short time Last edited by SprintTouch08; 12-09-2008 at 11:52 AM. |

This is a problem, stop being naive and sipping from htc cup full of lies. Winmo does not have to suck, notr does this phone. I admit, im not expecting crysis to run on this thing, but the graphical problems are here, and arent on older cheaper devices. |

Re: Graphics Performance issues?
lol ok. You along with everyone else had every chance to return it and get your $300 back if it was THAT big of an issue. It wasnt hidden nor has it changed in more days of ownership. Obviously more people are concerned with having a good WM business phone because if it was THAT big an issue few/no one would own one. And yes you can say its a typical answer all you want, but there IS truth to it as well. I wouldnt keep anything even if it was $20 that i wasnt happy with or thought was worth the money if i could return it.
Videos run on it for one, so whos lying here? If youre using media player thats your first mistake because its a horrible application, simple as that. Youre confusing a poor WM native app with HTC, and encoding is the user's issue not the phone. Again, people need to learn where to place the correct blame. I can play movies on Coreplayer just fine, sure its not iphone or HD TV quality but theyre fine for mobile viewing on the go which is all its for. Again, im not saying the numbers lie and prior devices had higher benchmarks, but its still perfectly decent to view in its current state. What do you expect, for every improvement something gets broken its like building a custom ROM. Sometimes you add 10 new things and one old one breaks. Theres only so much one can do while also getting a product to the market. There is NO perfect device. And you have it totally wrong I went through 4 Pros and then returned it returning to the Diamond and am not happy at all with what HTC did with the Pro's build quality so no clue where the HTC cup is coming from. You can sit here and call me all the HTC apologist and any other names you want but im not going to get bent out of shape about something so nominal instead of enjoying my life and the device i do have. The whole htcclassaction crap was just a bunch of blowhards IMO who got very little accomplished over a whole lot of stress and whining expended. Look at their website, and the history- BARELY any progress and that was over almost a year of time gone by and its nowhere near where anyone wants it to be still. By a years time, the next round of devices are out so its all wasted effort and stress in vain. Last edited by SprintTouch08; 12-09-2008 at 12:36 PM. |

Video is an after thought. The video wasn't really ment to play movies. It's a buisness phone, it's for presentations and generic video clips. The fact that it can play movies, and fairly well is an added bonus. TCPMP plays great for me with no stutter. Must be something you have loaded that is causing your stuttering. G-alarm has been confirmed to cause some video stutter and slow down. I have been working with the maker of G-alarm to solve this problem. Winmo doesn't suck and neither does the TP...at least not for me anyway. I am happy with what it can do. I can't speak for much older devices to be honest. The HTC Touch was my first real Winmo phone.

Re: Graphics Performance issues?
I have not returned my one and only Pro.
I just tried uninstalling G-Alarm and video performance is still pretty much the same. |

G-Alarm seems to be checking the time about every 3-5 min. Maybe sooner but I have not verified this. What happens is that the phone shows a busy state (busy icon). This happens in the background of the video and starts to cause the video to stutter/pause. Eventually the busy icon pokes through the video, then goes away. During all other times, the video is smooth. It's just during certain times this will happen. It's been confirmed in Juggalo's rom thread by several people. G-Alarm's creater is looking into this. So just to make this clear, having G-alarm installed will not cause your videos to stutter or lag the whole time you are watching a video. This is something that only happens occasionally. |
