So if I'm reading this responses right, would it be fair to say that Sprint TP sees a significant drop in memory with the SD card, whereas the VZW TP only drops by a little? That would be very interesting to see what exactly is taking up that memory.

Perhaps this is something to do with ISM?

i have a 8gb card. when i take mine out, theres about a 5mb difference.

I have a 2gb card in my Sprint TP and I see 1-2MB difference with the card in or out. Could it matter where you format the card? I think I formatted mine in my mogul.

How many files do you have on your SD card? The phone DOES use RAM for filesystem caching, so that might be the reason why. The larger the FAT, the more memory used.

It seems there may be a correlation between SD card size and RAM use...

I have a 8gb card class 4. When I remove mine I see a 0.8mb difference. So I would say you guys have some issues with your phones.

How much of your card is in use? Some eluded to some sort of caching on the card. Haven't had a chance to test mine yet (kinda scared to see what it comes out to be..lol).

8gb card here, never reformatted, just bought and put into phone, 3,724.62 mb in use (all but one of the programs for my phone are installed on the card as well)
