Re: ATTN: VZW Touch Pro users, keeping or returning??

I will deff try to get one from work. (Currently have 6800) I think everyone forgets the custom rom thing takes time and im sure it will come around, Even if I don't activate it I am limited to Verizon due to work and rom devolpment is what is hilding me back from the Omnia.

Re: ATTN: VZW Touch Pro users, keeping or returning??

Sent mine back today after having it for 4 days. I want a device that is going to work correct if I am paying that much money for it.
It is not HTC's fault, it is VZW.
My issues:
High cost for low performance. Thanks Verizon!
Build quality: Pretty good except for what appears to me a bubble in the lower center of the screen.
Responsiveness with operating system: I would love to throw this thing out my car window one day just to laugh about it. This thing is so dang slow it ain't funny. Forget even making a call while driving, you get so messed up because you have to wait forever for the phone to respond to what you are doing and constantly have to look down to see what the phone is doing. I'm not wrecking my Eclipse over this thing.
Responsiveness with TF3D: As above, sure it looks great but you can't even run it because it slows the phone down even worse than what it is.
Camera: Impossible to take a picture. I can't even take a picture of a fence post without it blurring due to a 5 to 7 second lag between clicking the button and when the shutter actually snaps.
SMS: With my trusty ol razr v3m, when I get an sms there is no waiting for 2 minutes for a sound that comes with that message.
I get a message all the time saying that Voice Command has stopped due to low memory, and I need to close programs. I don't have anything opened. Battery life:aweful at best. The specs say 250 minutes talk, 250 hours standby or something like that (I may be wrong), but I can't make it 8 hours without it dying.
Phone randomly will go to the dialpad screen.
Phone will also randomly turn the camera on when closing the keyboard.
Music Player: songs are unable to play through smoothly, skipping occasinally. Bet this has to do with low memory.

I have been reading and waiting on this phone for several months now and even got up at 1am when VZW put it on their site so I could get it. Wish I hadn't now, this thing is beyond horrible. It is sad to me since I know that this is one hell of a phone, but VZW chose to cripple it pretty bad. More like raped the phone. Dumba$$es.

Re: ATTN: VZW Touch Pro users, keeping or returning??

It's funny we all knew it was going to have less memory, yet we still bought it. Glutton for punishment eh? I went the Verizon route because it is a work phone and i need the insurance for it. I can't drop 400 bucks through ebay everytime something goes wrong with it.

I am keeping mine, I have great pride in our modding community, they should have something out shortly that will take advantage of the processor and the RAM, enable GPS etc...

I'll be keeping mine also. I agree with you symyn, I have faith that there will be something out soon to unlock the phone!

Re: ATTN: VZW Touch Pro users, keeping or returning??

I took a leap of faith today. I have been running the device with tf3d off for fear of the low ram... Today I started my day fresh at 7 am with a soft reset and turning tf3d on... Held breath. Well not really. I didn't expect anything. I expected it to freeze up and not be usable. However I did not have an issue all day. Playing music paired to my BT car kit for 30mins. No problem. All day at work calls, text, Opera, Music, Movies in CorePlayer, Pocket IRC, the only problem I had was the battery dying around 3pm(Which I am used to with PDA phones...). Charged it at work till 5pm. Have yet to have a ram issue lockup today and I have used my camera, and voice command with my Jawbone. All this with around 32MB free ram the whole time. Can't wait to see what this device will do unlocked on a custom rom. Stock gps is locked to VZNav(which all you have to do is add it to your account and is free for 30 days) which sucks compared to tomtom on my 6900...

Re: ATTN: VZW Touch Pro users, keeping or returning??

im keeping mine. Its not that slow, got it for $270, i love this thing, coming from a 6800 and 6700!
The keyboard is fabulous, much easier to use than Sprint's (my brother has 1)
I've gotten many tweaks to work except:
1) gps
2) internet connection sharing

KEEP the phone, there will be tweaks/fixes coming soon

If you dont have the patience, then return it and wait 2 months, maybe it'll be cheaper by then too.

EDIT: From my experience thus far, this phone is less "gimped" than the 6700 & 6800 were in their Stock-form. Kudos to Verizon for making "some" progress
