Ok, I have the liquid ryt, navy blue, and I am dyeing as we speak. I hope it works. I play disc golf, and have dyed my share of plastic over the years so this should work just fine. I don't have black, so I'm not sure how well it will work, and it's the liquid ryt not the powder. The powder works better.

All I can say is "wow". The one thing I hated about this phone was the silver battery cover.

An hour after I first saw this thread, I hit walmart and bought some of the black liquid RIT dye. I put about a cup and a half of water in a saucepan, heated it on low heat for about 15 minutes, shook the crap out of the dye bottle and put about 1/4 to 1/3 of the bottle into the water. Stirred, tossed the battery cover into the pan and 15 minutes later it looks freakin awesome.

Wow worked like a charm. I heated the water on high until it was where I could put my finger in it for just 1-3 seconds.. then put in the die and stirred.. tossed in the cover (previously washed in soapy water)... after 15 minutes of stirring i pulled it out and rinsed in cold water and then buffed out w/ an old hand towel.... no damage to lens


Thanks for the mod! $1.74 after tax was well worth fixing that cheap looking back plate.. now that i know how easy it is im looking all over for stuff to dye

Anyone know where I can get another cover? I'm kind of nervous about messing it up, but if it does work out right I want another to try different colors. Once you die a cover it can't be redyed, correct?

Call your local Sprint stores and tell them it broke...or just tell them you would like another. I did that and the third one I called had an extra and had it waiting for me at the front desk when I walked in.

You can always dye a darker color over it.
