Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!
Ready to try this out, and was looking into mixing colors. I found these sites that may help others:
Liquid/powder availability: http://www.ritdye.com/Color+Chart.4.lasso Mixing: http://www.ritdye.com/Create+Custom+Color.9.lasso http://www.basketclass.com/ritdye.html http://paintedthreadsprojects.blogsp...g-rit-dye.html I think I'm going for some sort of blue, but not sure yet. Also thinking of doing a gradiant. We'll see how it comes out. |

Great Success! I dyed one it came out so good I dyed the other. One thing I did different than most is I tied a thin peice of fishing line in a loop through the hole at the bottom of the cover to make it easier to handle. Then once I pulled the cover out and buffed it I let it dry on the fishing line.

Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!
I did mine and my girlfriend's covers today. I went with straight black and it turned out great. My girlfriend decided to be fancy and choose purple. Which means that I mixed Scarlet and Navy Blue. It turned out very dark. For the most part hers looks black, but in some light it looks purple. I told her to just accept red and she almost went with it, but then decided on purple at the last second. They both turned out perfectly, with hers being darker than she wanted. Thanks for the idea and steps. Appreciate it.
BTW, I used the liquid dye. Very little buffing was required, basically just to even it out. Last edited by henbone11; 01-01-2009 at 09:51 PM. |

Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!
Got my Pro the other night and dyed it the same color as my Diamond was.
Half a bottle of Scarlet liquid did it. Spectacular result. I need to source another so I can try "Light Royal Blue" to match my car (: I had the spot around the lens and "boiled" it for 20minutes more and it came off. I've had NO dye rub off in my hands this time around. Fantastic mod. Maybe the best for the Pro (:, I also had little buffing to do. It probably wasn't necessary at all.
