Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

I'm dying mine as we speak, looking for some advice at the moment.

I've got some water in a pot, maybe an inch deep, just enough to cover the case twice over.

I'm using Rit's liquid dye, as black in powder wasn't available.

I put a tiny amount of dye in, I could probably do it again 15-20 more times with the amount of dye I used. It's on very low heat... still fairly hot, but I can reach in to pull it out.

It's been going for 5-6 minutes now, and it's been turning shades of purple... my fingers are picking up more dye than the case is it's about to dark purple now... but I've bought black dye, I want it black!

More dye? More heat?

Suggestions please

Edit: A bit awesome that no one stepped up for a simple question, but eh. Here's what I did:

1) Added TONS of dye... I think I had about a cup of water, and a cup of liquid dye
2) Added lots more heat... The water ended up steaming a little, no bubbles (possibly because of the high dye concentration?), but too hot to have my hand in
3) Let it sit for 30-40 minutes. It was in the water a LONG time, still, under bright light, the back looks purple-ish. I'm a bit disappointed, I'll probably do it again later with straight up dye.

Here is how it was BEFORE I did the more extreme measures up there...

That was with about 30 minutes of soak time in the low heat, low dye setup. It just turned a nice purple. Would have been GREAT if that was what I was going for. I've got an after pic but I'll upload it and add it later, it looks like everyone else's. The liquid dye doesn't require buffing. Came out beautifully smooth right off the bat.
