Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

I Seriously read every post on the last 23 pages and I am so psyched about getting my phones now. Sprint has had them on back order for almost 2 weeks. Now I won't feel as gay about having the same phone as my girlfriend. Thanks for the great post and for all the pics and feedback everybody!

Guys, there's alcohol in those wipes and sanitizers. Of course it's going to rub off with that.

Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

I just did this on my Sprint Diamond and it came out great.
Definitely black not charcoal, although that would've been cool too.

The stylus didn't take too good. the bad is OK but the front is a darker red and the dye was rubbing off last I tried.

Three cups of water heated until it steamed slightly, dumped entire package of power, and stirred slightly for 15 minutes.
I then Sharpe'd the base. The alternatives didn't seem any better.
It doesn't need to be perfect just needs to be a subterfuge.
It looks similar to the shine on the face of the phone.

Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

I did mine last night and this morning I noticed in the sunlight that the edge around the rectangular plastic piece (the part that says HTC 3.2 mega pixel) looks a little lighter, almost purple-ish. It's not a big deal though. I'm probably going to re-dye it in a couple months anyways.

And question: Are you guys leaving your heat on while the cover is submerged in the dye liquid?

Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

anyone tried to apply any type of clear coat to the finished product? it should protect against moisture wearing the dye off. esp if you scored a couple extra TP covers...went to the sprint store today and they didn't have any xtras around for me...sigh oh well
