I don't know about you, but over 10,000 movies and shows that don't need to be stored on your SD card sounds pretty unbelievable to me. I've heard of this being done, but would love to hear from someone who has.
There isn't anyway for you to control an xbox360 using slingbox, it would be nice though.

Battery drain is pretty bad, don't expect no more than maybe 2hrs max of continuous use, if that.

Re: Get the Sling Box!

On the side note,

If you have a car navigation system that has video/audio in, and have the video out cable, it's a blast!

I have Eclipse AVN 5500 (I don't think Eclipse even offers this model anymore, and I doubt it. I'm sure they have newer, cheaper, and better model by now though) in my car, and watching sling on 6.5" LCD is pretty darn impressive.

Re: Get the Sling Box!

I bought a Slingbox and returned it right away after realizing that its not exactly what I want...which is my fault for not doing the proper research in the first place.

My setup now is using a WinTV HVR 1600 with Vista Media Center, and using the free app called WebGuide. Does everything Slingbox does and a lot more, and its free.

I got so mad when I found out I would have to pay 30 bux for each phone I wanted slingplayer for. Screw that...I can use webguide and watch it on ANY device or PC, without installing any software at all.

Vista Media Center + Webguide = The best setup for the best price, IMHO.

Too funny! My son and I were stuck in traffic last night and he started to watch the Sharks game on the TP/Sling but I couldn't see it . At that point the light bulb went on and I remembered about the video out on the TP and was curious if I could actually pump the picture from the phone to my Pioneer Avic D3 stereo (6.5" screen, video input). Thanks for the confirmation! I'm jazzed now....

Question though. Is it possible to charge the phone throught the cars DC power while sending the video out? I think they use the same port, right? I remember the phone came with some sort of extra dongle output (still in the box) does that have any application here?

You need to make or buy this for video input.

I put some pics here.

To charge it, you will need to buy a car charger.

The cable on the link has a line-in for the charger, so you will input your car charger input into it.

I'm glad you posted this, I have an AVN 5500 also (awesome unit) in my 2006 Escape Hybrid.

I have been planning on hooking the Sling video from my TouchPro to it but wasn't sure how well it would work.

I have the audio running into the Eclipse right now. I use a Proclip car adaptor that charges the battery & hooks it automatically to my sound system & that works super. I used that setup with my Titan's & now the TP.

Actually, after looking at it, mine is a 5520 (7" screen). I believe the 5520 replaced the 5500 (I had that model in the last truck I had)

I read a post here that said it worked fine, but I'm not sure where the post is........

I'm kinda wondering also, I have a Sprint TP but it's flashed to the leaked vz ROM & is running in vz service.

Must be nice ot have 3mb upload. I'm stuck with 1mb up wit my roadrunner connection, and they won't increase it for some reason. Hell, even on the premium tier, the upload is the same as the lower end tier. 3mb is more than enough.

It shoudl work fine, unless you have dish internet. Satellite internet is too laggy to be useful, but otherwise if you have 785k of upload it should work fine.

Anyone know a fix.
I'd think its something wrong with your phone if it works fine with the laptop (if you're accessing from the laptop outside of your network). If you get on wifi with the touch pro on the same network the slingbox is on, does it still lag out? 768kb should be fine for slingbox.

Slingbox is a dedicated device that just works. Last time I tried orb, it wasn't as nice nor as easy to use. Also, even though my computer is on all the time, by using slingbox I don't have to have a cable box near my computer nor a tv tuner card, nor need a computer running for tv access.
