Re: TP Locking Up Overnight

Wow, I cannot believe this problem still exists. What that tells me is that the phone is overheating, and that HTC will never release a fix, (because it's a hardware problem.)

If different chargers are allowing your phone to charge fine, without crashing, then it's probably feeding less current, and the charging circuit isn't getting a chance to overheat the phone.

Re: TP Locking Up Overnight

I dont know if I read this suggestion in this thread or not, but ive taken the battery cover off the phone and it hasnt frozen for about a month now. I usually do this at night before I go to sleep. I also leave it on the charger (this is a dock). Kinda a pain to put the cover back on work days, but id rather do that than miss the alarm and be late to work.

Re: TP Locking Up Overnight

Like others, I have good reason to think that the occasional overnight lockups are due to overheating. One simple precaution is to slide out the keyboard when charging. Also, do not charge the phone immediately after heavy multimedia usage--let it cool off first.

Re: TP Locking Up Overnight

Happened to my TP for the second time this morning, and this is with G-Alarm installed. In fact the first time was when I installed G-Alarm the day before and this time I reinstalled G-Alarm because I had to hard reset.

My TP was made on 01/06/09

Re: TP Locking Up Overnight

I used to get this occasionally overnight, but if I rebooted right before putting it on the charger it seemed not to happen. Then, I had to do some uninstalls/reinstalls of Seven and Lotus Notes Traveler and I was getting the lockups during the day. It is anecdotal, but sure seems to be software related to me. It was happening both on charge and off.

I believe the charging/overnight crashing issue is definitely hardware-related.

The other crashing is because the TP was pretty bad about that anyways. I'm sure if you dig around you can find a custom ROM that is much better about that.

Re: TP Locking Up Overnight

Well, my phone somehow managed to lock up while charging, DURING A CALL. The call was never interrupted, but once I tried to hang up, it was 100% unresponsive. I had to actually reboot to end the call. wtf?

The lock while charging happened to me once in 6 months but then I don't charge overnight very often, if at all.

What exactly is Today timeout?
