You could try another store...it sounds like there is a memo out there, but not everyone may read memos. As a worst case scenario, if you don't already have the insurance, maybe you can add it still and use the $50 deductible option if you really want. I don't think you should have to -- if you haven't done anything beyond normal use to it, that certainly doesn't look like normal wear and tear should cause that. But if all else fails, the insurance is a nice option to have.
